Racing update

I have made a few calls to catch up with a few racing snippets and news that are worth noting.

** Talking with Darryl Hansen, he has decided to miss the Ramornie 1200m in Grafton next week with Essington. The horse is fine and will race in the Ascot handicap this weekend in Brisbane. He has just decided that after the long trip to Rockhampton that he would rather make the short trip to Brisbane than the long trip south. I asked about the well bred horse Achievements and Darryl said the hard track didn’t suit last time and the horse should run at the Sunny Coast this Sunday.

** Ben Ahrens is happy with Spechenka. He told me he knew the horse had improved on the Ipswich run, but even he was surprised by how much improvement the horse had made. He is contemplating his next move with the classy stayer and it appears that the Grafton Cup is not totally out of the question. He will just take his time and place the horse where he thinks is best for the future.

He has done a great job with the horse and deserves the wraps he is currently getting.
