In a sport that can be so brutal on people and sometimes eat itself with fights and carry on we have actually broke that mold to a degree this year and have been reminded on what this sport can achieve when we get behind each other.
Recently RadioTab had their day of support raising money for the Jockeys Trust. They were talking to ex-jockeys and families who have been helped by the Jockey Trust and some of the stories were sad but great to hear. They raised over $34,000 with the support of hundreds of people willing to give to help out. Excellent stuff from the team at RadioTab/UBET.
Earlier in the year we had the fallen jocks fundraiser for Wade and Ben at Toowoomba, well that was simply incredible! In such a sad time it was amazing what that club was able to achieve. Over $170,000 raised from not just single donations and prizes from the night but all the business’ throwing in prizes etc to make the guys lives just that little bit better! We weren’t able to do a lot from Brissyraces but we did throw together a package to help the club. Well done Toowoomba turf club and every single person that helped in anyway.
