One of the QLD horses I believe we have not seen the best of yet is Ready To Rip from the Andrew Williamson stable. He is potential packed and on a couple of occasions we have seen him produce enormous efforts to win or go down narrowly with no luck. His last preparation was full of hard luck stories and could well have strung a few listed and group win together with a bit more luck on his side.
Ready To Rip was injured in the Queensland Guineas won by Torio’s Quest and returned from a layoff at the Sunshine Coast on Melbourne Cup day. The race was over 1000m and he was forced to carry 62kg over the sprint trip, but it didn’t affect him as he cruised to a 1.5L victory. As I get a lot of e-mails about the horse I thought it would be best to catch up with Andrew and find out how the horse is and what the plans are for the summer.
“I was going to trial him that day but there were no trials as it was Melbourne cup day. He probably would have had 62kg on his back if he trialled, but he did it pretty easy and we didn’t want to knock him about too much with the weight.” Williamson said.
The Sunshine Coast trainer was also nice enough to give brissyraces what he plans on being Ready To Rip’s program. “He will start off in the 1000m Saturday, then go to the Keith Noud (Listed 1200m) a fortnight later. Then the G3 George Moore (1200m Eagle Farm) and the Lough Neagh (1350m Listed Doomben). So that will take in the first two legs of the series but not the 1615m last leg.” Williamson explained.
If all goes to plan throughout the prep we may then see the son of More Than Ready run in the 1400m Magic Millions cup in January. He is an outstanding prospect and I really hope he can draw some decent gates so he can stand up and show the racing public that he really is one of the best sprinters in the Sunshine State. I also asked Williamson of any other stars in the stable we can watch out for? He was upbeat about a few of his younger horse he has in the stable but they may be a while off starting, so we will catch up with him down the track to see how they are progressing.
Good luck to Andrew and his team with Ready To Rip this summer!
**Just a note to all members and followers.. There have been some issues with signing up and signing in.. For this week and the near future I will be making ALL the articles so as you will not have to sign in and can access all parts of brissyraces.com.au. (if in doubt check out the ‘This just in’ page and all stories should be there in a worst case scenario) If you have been affected I apologise and if you know others who have had issues maybe send them this article so they know what is going on. Thanks again for all supporting brissyraces and I do appreciate peoples patience with hiccups now and then as we try to sort it out.. Trust me they are as annoying for me as they are you.
Cheers
