REAL SAGA SHOOTS TO TOP!

GLENLOGAN PARK’S former top class juvenile galloper Real Saga registered his 3rd winner from his last 3 starters when the Darryl Hansen trained gelding Choose A Saga gave his rivals a spanking at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The impressive victory propelled Real Saga to the top of both the 1st Season Sire Tables for prizemoney (now sitting on $148,200) and for winners (3 from 5 starters), a position he shares with Sebring (3 winners from 10 starters).

Hansen was understandably thrilled with his youngster after the Real Saga 2YO won by an ever-widening 5 length margin and he is now planning an assault on next month’s big Magic Millions race.

“I have always had a very big opinion of this fellow and the ease of that win did not surprise me one bit,” Darryl said post-race. “He is as tough a youngster as I have ever had and he has a bucket-load of talent to go with it.

“He has not stretched out at all on the wet tracks his last couple but today, with the better conditions and the longer distance (1200m), he was able to get good solid footing and sit back on the bit and relax during the running.

“Eddie (Wilkinson) got off and said he was still as green as grass and has plenty to learn – so I can’t wait for the time that he puts it all together!

“The plan will be to now take him home, give him a week in the paddock and some time on the aqua-walker to ensure he has come through in good order.

“I would think the plan would then be to step out in 3 weeks time in the $150,000 Listed race at Doomben on December 29 and then that will give us a fortnight to the Magic Millions.

“I have 3 of these Real Saga’s in my stable and every one of them has well-above average ability.

“They are tough and they want to be racehorses! I love them!”
