Saturday at Doomben

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Back to DOOMBEN which I love and the rail TRUE.

Some showers predicted but doesn’t look anything too bad to be honest. I usually love punting this time of year but just some really even sort of races that I’m not keen to punt into. Very few bets for me again this week. Looked to be one or two who might have gone to the wrong race last week and might be a couple again this week.

*It’s a smaller preview but I don’t see the point on rambling on about 6 horses in each race when I don’t really like anything so just saving us all time. Will be updated and final 9am Saturday*

Too many chances, not for me.

Top four fight it out but can’t split them enough for me to want to have a bet.

RACE 3:*

Again, very even. KIM ALICIA was good two back winning this track/trip before leading and going 6L quicker than the benchmark over 1500m at EF. The effort to stick on for as long as she did was good. Can box seat here, get a better run and gets a chance to finish off.

CERINTHE BELLE was good beating an avg field last start but looks to have good upside. Can race on speed and be in this for a long way

Away from her I give 7 of the 9 a chance so prices decide if I have something on her or not.

On Top: 3-KIM ALICIA $8

RACE 4: * *

Good tempo on here and most should get their chance.

At first glance it’s hard to see anything turning the tables on CRAFTY COP. He improved sharply at his 2nd run for new stable and was a good winner. DITMAS will be suited back on top of the ground, will be suited by more tempo and will be suited with the swing in his weight in his favour.

MOGADOR and ORADONNA will best of those from the back, just worried how many lengths they spot the leaders.

On Top: 10-DITMAS $4.40

Hardest To Beat: 1-CRAFTY COP

RACE 5:* * * *

LOOKS LIKE ELVIS (SCRATCHED)looks extremely well placed if they run here instead of Coffs. He was excellent last start and will be further improved from that run. 1600m 3rd up perfect and gets a decent run in transit. 3kg claim a bonus and he looks the winner. Looked a good thing here.

If he doesn’t run GOLD AMBITION, HECTOPASCAL and GALTERO can all run well. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are aggressive early on GALTERO and try to get him outside leader. If he finds his best he can be value. Good luck with GOLD AMBITION, I can’t work him out and have had a gutful of him to be honest.

*No idea. 3,4,6 the main hopes.

Can’t come into this. I’d have been backing YEAHNAH for sure in this but they have saved it for the race following.

SIENNA ROSE looks the best horse here, just very concerned as to how far she gets back around Doomben.

*After scratchings SIENNA ROSE is the one to beat but still needs a very good ride and $3 looks rock bottom.

RACE 7: *

Handful of better horses than YEAHNAH here but he does get a good run in transit and gets every chance to win from the good gate. Assuming they ran here as they are more comfortable at 1200m but tough race. Opened $16 on TAB and that would be enough for a bet, looks a bit over the right price.

MACEWEN and VERANES would be well on top at EF but the inside gate for MACEWEN and the outside gate for VERANES are worst case scenarios around Doomben. Maybe MACEWEN can sit a bit closer fresh. FOXPACK was better than it looks last start up on speed in a fast run race, just needs a good steer from the gate.

*YEAHNAH gets the sweet run. MACEWEN can sit closer from the good gate. Small win bets on them for me. VERANES will be the flashing light and ready next start.

On Top: 1-MACEWEN $7 +++ 12-YEAHNAH $10

Next Best: 16-VERANES, 15-FOXPACK

RACE 8: * * *

Not a very strong race but more than interesting and tactics are the key here, hoping Fradd can outride them.

The first 300m is extremely interesting. Everyone will have TARZAN mapping to lead but he’s not exceptionally good out of the gate and Fradd on WHYPEEO may be able to ping and try to cross that horse as TARZAN is a lot better when he is able to roll along up front.

WHYPEEO was good in the Ramornie after leading and back to dry ground the key. HANDSOME THEIF is a month between runs but ran over WHYPEEO late last time they met. Meets that horse worse at the weights but it was an impressive win that day

*Not much between the two of them

On Top: 6-WHYPEEO $3.50

Next Best: 3-HANDSOME THIEF $7

RACE 9: * * * *

Waller with a stranglehold of this race. AUERBACH, THE AVENGER and SPARKY LAD all leading hopes.

Been waiting for AUERBACH to step out again after Lloyd nearly stole it last time out and only run over by a handy one in Snitch. He should be able to just box seat as RICH AFFAIR will go handlebars down to lead. Can peel off the leaders back on straightening. Lloyd really suited this horse so losing him isn’t ideal but he’s rock hard fit now and gets the gun run so goes on top.

THE AVENGER trialled good before his excellent fresh run where he looked the winner but peaked on his run. Needs a good ride from the gate and can’t afford to be held up on the corner here. With even luck he’s clearly the main danger.

GRANNY RED SHOES is a good mare, just another bad gate and can see issues again.

On Top: 7-AUERBACH $6.50

Hardest To Beat: 9-THE AVENGER $5.50, 11-SPARKY LAD

Think I will stay out. Not confident on the day at all in Brisbane to be honest.
