Saturday at the Gold Coast

Big fields and a great warm up for the Magic Millions. Warm weather all day and track is likely to race pretty fast.

Pineapple hotel new

Race 1:

Not sure I’ll bet here, some real speedsters and should be run at a fast clip. I AM QUEEN is a nice mare on the way up and although this isn’t her preferred trip but gets a soft run in behind and she might well prove the strongest late. ACQUME also gets a nice run in behind the leaders and was only beaten 2.2L at Listed level before a break. Nice drop in grade for both.

*Not a great punting affair.

On Top: 4-I AM QUEEN

Hardest To Beat: 9-ACQUME

Race 2:

Really ordinary race this.

BAREFOOT is clearly the best horse but I’m not a fan of the 1800m for her so I can’t back her today.

MISS SARA is a non winner but hasn’t been placed real well in her career to date. She has been going through the 3yr old staying series and this is much easier, 1800m suits better and will lead this for a long way.

*If I bet it would be MISS SARA ew but not too keen.

On Top: 6-MISS SARA $4.80

Race 3;

Competitive race and not much speed so I feel it can suit PRIORITISE. He’s going better than it reads on paper and hasn’t been able to find a race where he can roll along on speed. I’d have rathered him draw wide so he could take his time to come across but as long as Murphy rides him right and lands in the first two after 300m he is the one they have to beat.

ARTICUS was also better than it reads in the Villiers, just lost momentum in the straight and this is a big drop in grade.

MISS SHANTI has some upside, gets Fradd and blinkers.

*Having something PRIORITISE

On Top: 3-PRIORITISE $3.60

Hardest To Beat:  1-ARTICUS $3.30

NEDS 50150

Race 4:

Can probably live without a bet here too. HAPPY GO PLUCKY is in very good form but has to be some concern.

KAY KAY BOY the class but just not sure what to make of him this prep, he’s been very good and very ordinary. He can win for sure but I’m not brave enough to take $2.70.

HIGH POWER gets the gate and Browne, surely hard to beat but again at around $3 seems short enough. If I was forced to have a bet it might be a very small play EVOLO at the $15, been waiting for him to get to 2200m and should be fitter for recent racing.

*Don’t like the race.

Roughie: 12- EVOLO $15

Race 5:

Good speed here and would have thought TYZONE nearly a good thing from a gate, however he’s got the wide gate and apprentice on. There has to be a query from out there but he’s clearly the best horse in the race and well placed.

Feel the value can be DREAM FINNISH, with the speed on I’m hoping she can hold a spot midfield and she can be very strong late on top of the ground. Happy to have a small play at $13.

*Backing DREAM FINNISH and saving TYZONE.

Roughie: 3-DREAM FINNISH $13

Hardest To Beat: 1-TYZONE $2.80

Race 6:

Another race with high pressure and EXHILARATES should be able to camp a few pairs back off the hot tempo and get every chance. Love the fact she has improved at every run and comes here with a sense of timing about her. Was 2nd to the MM fav last start and looks well placed.

DEVINE FACTOR was excellent on debut and she can only improve off that. She gets a good gate also and feel she will be one of the strongest late.

Thought LUBUK would come up double figures and be the best roughie but he’s $8 and right in the market. He was a bit green on debut but still very good late and gets the blinkers here.

Hardest To Beat:  8-DEVINE FACTOR,  5-LUBUK

Race 7:

Really good speed again here and Fradd just has to judge it early to find the right spot and SNOW VALLEY can measure right up to these. 2/2 in career so far and although the wins have been on the northern rivers she looks a very handy one in the making. More than happy to back her at $3+.

UNCONDITIONAL opened around the $10 mark, was ok last start, gets Lloyd on and the blinkers, can improve sharply out in trip.

LOVE STRUCK is placed horribly as a maiden here but I have no doubt she is Saturday grade. He is a get back type but with the good speed he can run into it late.

On Top: 9-SNOW VALLEY $3.20

Hardest To Beat:  13-LOVE STRUCK $11,  1-UNCONDITIONAL $10

Race 8:

NATCH has been disappointing his first two runs back but may just have needed the racing. This is D-Day for him, should get it easy enough to win if good enough but hard to be too confident.

NO ANNAMOSSITY gets the nice drop in grade and has been good at Listed level this prep.

OINK doesn’t win out of turn but might be able to box seat and get every chance.

SNITZ just needs a bit of luck from the gate, will be cherry ripe after the fresh run.

*Even sort of race. Working around 1,2,3,9

On Top: 9-OINK $4

Hardest To Beat: 2-NATCH,  1-NO ANNAMOSSITY,  3-SNITZ

Race 9:

UNLIKELY STORY meets DESERT MAN 3.5kg better off for their recent meetings. He got a long way back from a bad gate but sectionals late were very good. Can sit closer from a better gate and should look the winner at the 100m.

CRUZE looked to be well under the odds fresh but did run better than I expected. From a good gate he could sit first three pairs and held up for last shot the $9 might be a fair price here.

DREAM MASTER gets Lloyd back on and can run a race up on speed on the home track.

On Top:  4-UNLIKELY STORY $3.80

Hardest To Beat: 17-CRUZE $9

Race 3 No.3- PRIORITISE $3.60

Race 7 No.9- SNOW VALLEY $3.20
