Saturday Eagle Farm

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

One of the only losing days of the month was at Eagle Farm so I’m not that excited we are back a fortnight later. Away from here I think we are 5/5 best bets over the other three weekends this month. Still trying to work the track out, unfortunately so are some of the jocks. A few mistimed runs costing horses victory last time around here.

Anyway let’s run the eye over, just a few main bets on the day for me.

*Very early preview, updates to come, final after 9am Saturday*

All states previewed at THE RACE CLUB.

Race 1:

Even sort of race but I have been following GET STUCK IN his six career runs to date and been waiting for him to find a race like this. He looks a good horse to my eye and both his runs back this time in work have been solid and strong through the line in both even though they have been run at slow tempos. Fastest last 400 and 200m fresh and the 2nd fastest last 400m 2nd up. Nothdurft will be better for the one steer on him and with the blinkers on I’m happy to have something on each way.

MULLUGHMORE can improve sharply, a little one paced but this track should suit. Big drop in grade for FABULONH and he can run well.

*Eachy peachy on GET STUCK IN.

On Top: 2-GET STUCK IN $8 into $7

Hardest To Beat: 10-MULLUGHMORE, 1-FABULONH

Race 2:

Anyone who follows the site knows I’m not one to bet in these races but I was taken by the trial midweek of GRIBALDI, he looks an exciting type and keen to see how he goes in a pretty handy two year old race it has to be said.

IAMICAN has also trialled well above avg and GUNTANTES is a city winner.

*GARIBALDI opened $2.40, probably watching on at the price.

On Top: 3-GARIBALDI

Next Best:1-FUNTANTES, 9-IAMICAN

Race 3:

Love what MEET MR TAYLOR has been able to do and i’d be surprised if a few don’t scratch running scared. They went fast last start and he just put 5L on them like he was playing. Speed underneath him here so will have to be good but hard to find one beating him.

CAPITAL CONNECTION is very consistent without really smashing his way through the grades yet. trial was good and he’s hardest to beat.

*Not sure if i have to bet at the prices to be honest but very keen to watch the race. Opened $2.70, could bet at that price.

On Top: 4-MEET MR TAYLOR  $2.70

Hardest To Beat: 7-CAPITAL CONNECTION $9.50

Race 4:

Should be enough speed to give them all a chance here. Desleigh put the blinkers on MALVERN ESTATE in a trial before the MM and they seemed to do the trick as it was his best run for a while. I wouldn’t say he’s won my trust back but a repeat of that run just about wins this.

SONY LEGEND a winning hope but just feel he might need the run. IMPREGNABLE also going well, can’t believe the money that come for him last start but where there is smoke there is fire so they might go again here.

On Top: 4-MALVERN ESTATE $4.40

Hardest To Beat: 5-IMPREGNABLE, 3-SONY LEGEND

Race 5:

Not a race I want to get too involved in. FRANCISCA has the most upside and she might progress again this prep. She has been beaten as fav a few times so she’s not one I want to dive in to but she does have good ability on her day.

SKATE TO PARIS might need a little bit of luck from the gate and was another frustrating horse last prep but has won a race this prep and the run MM day was a pass mark and decent for this.

COOL MOVER was a good winner fresh last prep albeit in an easier race. Might be the value off a decent trial.

*Might have a very small play FRANCISCA if $7+

On Top: 6-FRANCISCA $8

Next Best: 11-COOL MOVER, 12-SKATE TO PARIS

Race 6:

Nothing I like more than seeing a horse savage the line and MAGIC FOX not only did that he put a gap in them last start. He’d been bumping into the best 3yr olds and the drop in grade worked, he also got a good tempo and the light weight. Ran fastest 600m-400-200m of the race. He goes up 5kg here which is a big rise but a repeat run would have him winning.

AILEACH is probably better suited on a wet track and the trial (without blinkers) was poor. Just can’t help but feel she will excel on this bigger track, Doomben had been crueling her last prep and at $19/$5.50 I had a small ew play. She has run the fastest last 200m in 6 of her 7 career runs.

BELLE ROC and MACEWEN also winning hopes, they just need good rides from the gates.

*Warming to MACEWEN here the more I look at the race, he is an improving type and he’s been very very good late in slow run races of late, also like the fact Stewart goes on.

Roughie: 3-AILEACH $19  ++ 8-MACEWEN $10

Next Best: 1-MAGIC FOX, 7-BELLE ROC

Race 7:

EMPHASIS got the better of BERGERAC over a mile here a fortnight ago. Lloyd simply outrode Gallagher as the apprentice timed his run wrong. Both horses were very good and there is not a lot between them. Not ripping in here but have had a small bet on EMPHASIS, like the fact he ticked the EF box last run and both his most recent efforts have nearly been career bests.

Love BERGERAC as a horse but gee he’s had some racing, being sent around like a greyhound. INGEEGOODBEE probably needs one more and can then win at 2000m.

On Top: 3-EMPHASIS $4

Hardest To Beat: 1-BERGERAC, 5-INGEEGOODBEE

Race 8:

Not a great tempo by any means here and BLUEBOOK/BRAINS can get better runs than they did last start when 1st and 3rd here a fortnight ago.

BRAINS was dominant there but got a better run in transit than BLUEBROOK who was wide the entire trip. BLUEBOOK also meets him 2.5kg better off. Not a lot between them and expecting them to fight this out again.

LE JUGE going well but might just spot them too big of a start.

*Backing BLUEBOOK and saving BRAINS.

On Top: 4-BLUEBOOK $5

Hardest To Beat: 3-BRAINS $4, 5-LE JUGE

Race 9:

Expecting LA SCOPA and KING LEAR to fight out the last and the market has it right.

KING LEAR was exceptional here a fortnight ago, he got back in a very slow run race so his job was nearly impossible. He ran the fastest last 400 and 200m of the race (clearly) and had the flashing light on for this, he relies on tempo up front.

LA SCOPA has an awkward gate but I have her landing in front of midfield with cover, if that’s the case she will look the winner at the 150m and be the one KING LEAR has to run down. She was excellent winning a hway race last start, you’d rather her at 1400m now but this seems to be a testing track and she’s run well here before.

CATESBY might be the best of the on pacers but leaning the others.

*Backing LA SCOPA and making KING LEAR a winning result.

On Top: 12-LA SCOPA $5.50

Next Best: 8-KING LEAR $5
