Saturday – Eagle Farm ‘The punt’

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

*Firstly it was great to meet a few people who follow the site on the Cairns trip, a few great fella’s it was great to meet!

Now to the Eagle farm card. You are always looking for patterns and trends in tracks, at Doomben I’m always confident of getting it right, last week i didn’t see coming though. I would be completely guessing to try and tell you what I think this track will play like or which part of the track they will use, I’m confident the jocks don’t even know. Makes it hard but here we go.

RACE 1: * * *

No speed here, big query as to what rolls forward.

LA SCOPA is the class runner, she was ok fresh and I’d expect her to improve again here with an eye to a Kosi spot.

JAY JAY D’AR was good at her only run for Waller and she looks to be on the up. Liked her effort last start and has form behind Sylvia’s Mother in Melb last prep.

*Can make a case for most of the field but i’m with the Waller runner.

On Top: 3-JAY JAY D’AR $3.80

Hardest To Beat: 2-LA SCOPA, 4-SMUG SATISFACTION

RACE 2:

On Top: OCEAN ADDICT but gee she’s too short now. Needed $3+

RACE 3: * * *

Feel the best form will be the PROFIT race.

PROFIT looks a star in the making. They have set him a task here with a 4.5kg turnaround at the weights to the stablemate GUNTANTES.

PROFIT will be a very good stayer and the further they go the better he’ll get, the one to beat again, even with the weight rise. I simply don’t trust GUNTANTES, want to see him be consistent before falling into him.

Have liked most of EPICURIOUS’ runs, just not sold on the mile yet.

On Top: PROFIT but won’t take under $3 this week. Watching on at $1.75

RACE 4: * * *

TRICKY GAL (SCRATCHED) is just a winner. No great tempo here and she might settle last, not ideal but she’s got a booming finish and on the big track she will be the one getting right to the outside and strongest late. Straight from a CL1 to a CL4 last start and only beaten a lip.

I’d have loved TATCEE to have had one more run under her belt, 1600m on this track is ideal for her. She was good enough fresh, she was back on a very slow tempo and not much else she could have done.

Can make cases for plenty of others to land in the money but feel those two are the best winning hopes.

On Top: 9-TATCEE $9 ew

RACE 5:

WIRNPA and JAGGED EDGE look the main players. At the prices I’ve just had something small e/w WIRNPA.

RACE 6: * *

Have always been a fan of TREVELYAN and although beaten last start was still ok. He is the horse on the way up and does get the 2kg claim, does lose Fradd who I feel suits the horse though.

PERFECT WITNESS is ready to win but I’m sure they’d be filthy with the gate. He’s a horse you’d love to draw a gate where he could land midfield without spending a penny. Might end up last and spot these a start but will be strong late.

Cases again can be made for half the field. Would have been keen to play PW here but the gate might be enough to stop me punting.

On Top: 3-PERFECT WITNESS $8 (SCRATCHED)

*Don’t like the race so staying out.

************************************************************************

RACE 7: * * *

MAIL ESCORT has continued to run well without winning. Always runs good late splits (has run fastest or next best L200m in 5 of his last 7 runs). Just needs to stand up and get it done now.

PARK CHINOIS was enormous fresh, thought he’d run well but he was as good as anything in a handy race. No reason he doesn’t run well again.

Have liked ENTERPRISE PRINCE all prep and although beaten last start it was probably a career best. Seven day back up for the first time can be a query but he’s in a good stable and got a good jock on top, he’s hard to beat here.

On Top: 3-ENTERPRISE PRINCE $3.60 ++ 4-MAIL ESCORT $7

Hardest To Beat: 6-PARK CHINOIS

************************************************************************

RACE 8: * * *

RECKLESS CHOICE usually gets back but is more than capable to land in the third pair here and he drops 7.5kg on his last start victory at this track. Going as well as he ever has and can win with some luck.

Have to land on LOOKS LIKE ELVIS on his current form, he’s simply airborne. He’d been good all prep but the last win was outstanding, another very suitable race here. If there is an issue it’s the other jocks playing games and trying to keep him wide.

KUBIS is as tough as they come, probably ends up getting a cheap lead here and will again give a super kick. MORTON’S FORK was a hell of a lot better than it reads on paper last start, splits were good and then held up late.

On Top: 5-LOOKS LIKE ELVIS $2.60

Hardest To Beat: 9-RECKLESS CHOICE, 2-KUBIS, 4-MORTON’S FORK

***********************************************************************

RACE 9: *

I’d have been very keen on UNLIKELY STORY from a decent gate here but gee the gate has me frazzled! Ridden more positively last start and I thought the effort was good, better suited at the 1200m. Likely to go back and the gate might scare me off a bet here.

CONSTANT FLIGHT is going better than ever, dominant fresh and then a good Saturday winner last start. Not going to underrate him this time but he has the wide gate and might have to work a bit early.

DEEP IMAGE- Don’t trust him at all but has trialled well and in a new stable. RHYME NOR RHYTHM beat an ordinary bunch but at his best he’s up to this.

CADOGAN would belt these on his day, he just needs racing and questionable if he’s come back as good. He gets the right run and must respect.

On Top: 11-UNLIKELY STORY ++ 3-CADOGAN $12

Hardest To Beat: 2-RHYME NOR RHYTHM and SNIPSTREAM

Race 4 No.9- TATCEE $8.50
