Saturday racing at SCTC

Up the highway to the sunny coast for metrop racing.

Rail- TRUE

Weather- Has been rain around but looks to be clearing. Should be a GOOD-SLOW surface with the edge off it.

Race 1:

Wow, this is a bad way to start. Two horses have 3kg claimers on and they can claim around 1kg each? Amazing stuff. Have CAPITAL GAIN on top but happy to watch from afar and not bet.

Race 2:

Really even race. Eleven runs since TUNERO has won and he’s $2.40. Not for me. Felt GALAXY GURU might need one more run to really top him off but could be value at $8. In saying that, I probably don’t bet here either.

Race 3:

QUEEN KAY has to start fav, she gets in at the set weights and she was exceptional winning a better race than this on debut. She will start odd on and don’t think she should be that short. The sunny coast trainers are bloody hard to beat on their home track and Kendrick has a big hand here. POUPEE was well backed on debut, was beaten but warmed up very late and looks one who will improve sharply off that experience. Happy to have something on at $7. Stablemate THE BROTHERHOOD was good debut, did everything right and should also improve off it. Might be worth seeing which one they back.

Backing: 11-POUPEE $7

Hardest To Beat: 6-QUEEN KAY, 1-THE BROTHERHOOD

Race 4:

MICK THE HAT can run a race at double figure odds. Wide all the way last start, before that had been in very good form. They will run along and give him the opportunity to let down late. ONE STRYKE is (4:2:2:0) this track/trip and is also $13, sure to run better than those odds suggest. MASTER BAYLEE goes in my trifeta’s at $26, have always thought there is a bit of upside there and gets a good senior on.

YEAHNAH is a winning hope, just feel he might need this and be ready next time out. HOLLABACK GIRL is the fav, genuine hope but another I feel is unders.

On Top: 9-MICK THE HAT $11 ++ 2-ONE STRYKE $13

Roughie: 12-MASTER BAYLEE $26

Race 5:

Nope.

Race 6:

Have to admit I gave WINTER PASSAGE life last prep, had a gutful of her running well without winning. She has won two on the bounce this time in and showed a good turn of foot on both occasions. She can win again.

DREAM MASTER can lead these up, like him back out to this trip and sure to be hailed the winner. Think he will be very hard to catch.

I’m a fan of ALOT LIKE HOME but he needs to stand up now. Forgiving last start when the race wasn’t run to suit and had to take off early. GRACIE BELLE was excellent at first start for Dunn. Beat an inferior field to this but you have to like the way she went about it.

*The closer we get the more I am upgrading GRACIE BELLE

On Top; 1-DREAM MASTER $7

Hardest To Beat: 5-WINTER PASSAGE, 7-GRACIE BELLE, 4-ALOT LIKE HOME

Race 7:

Happy to shop value here. DESERT DIGBY (SCRATCHED) opened $12 and GREY MISSILE $17. Should get close to double figures race day. DESERT DIGBY has heat stress fresh and then lame last start. If you are the forgiving type he can run a race at odds. His best is more than good enough and he gets a gun run in transit. GREY MISSILE was a poster boy for consistency before being putrid his last two starts. Joins the Edmonds camp and has trialled particularly well.

RAMTASTIC was very strong from the back last time out. Excellent to see he’s not a one trick pony. He can win but again he’s short enough for mine.

On Top: 2-GREY MISSILE $10

Next Best: 7-RAMTASTIC

************************************************************************

Race 8:

Happy to watch on here.

Race 9:

One of the hardest races I can remember. usually I’d just avoid it to be honest. Personally I feel they chose the wrong race for SCALLOPINI MM day but nothing could be helped with the horse that broke down falling back on him and putting him in a hopeless spot. I’ve been waiting years for SCALLOPINI to get on a big track over 1400m with some tempo in the race. He might not have been in the 1400m race MM day but he gets that same scenario here and I have to have something on. Thought the $9 opening was skinny enough so into $7 is more than short enough in this sort of race.

Feel the other one who will improve sharply is SILVERA. Will get the edge off the track here and should appreciate it a hell of a lot more than EF. Goes in quaddies etc at odds. Many other class runners but they are the ones I’ll mention, we haven’t got all day.

On Top: 11-SCALLOPINI $7

Roughie: 12-SILVERA $15

***********************************************************************

Race 10:

Heathcote with a major hand here with the two favs. ZIEMBA might be the better horse but this sets up well for MOSSHIKI. Has run well on the backup, was very good last week after a wide run and rock hard fit. ZIEMBA is the horse on the rise but here off a little freshen and may be better for the run and does have the big weight.

On Top: 3-MOSSHIKI

Next Best: 1-ZIEMBA

**********************************************************************

MY BETS:

No real confidence again this week, bit of a trap meeting.

Race 3 No.11-POUPEE $7

Race 7 No. 2-GREY MISSILE $10

Race 9 No.11-SCALLOPINI $7 and smaller 12-SILVERA $14

***********************************************************************

THE PROPHETS’ BEST:

(coming off a $10 winner last week)

Race 7 No.5-DOCTOR ZOUS

Race 9 No.11-SCALLOPINI
