Saturday Wrap Up

A weird day at Eagle Farm with very slow times being run for some reason.

I guess we should start by mentioning DALTON who was a short price in race1 and he put in a great performance to sit off the pace, find a bit of bad luck but still be good enough to win. He is no superstar but there is plenty of money to be made with a horse like him right now..

Race 4 was run at a farcical tempo and without trying to sit here and knock jockey’s (who have a bloody hard job) Harrison on CASH’N’STYLE gave it absolutely none. She simply had to take the race into her own hands and push on to lead as that horse is not going to win a sprint home over 500m. To Harrison’s credit I believe she stated that a better option in hindsight would have been to lead. There will be big questions over the form of the race but SHEZAHOTSHOT made up good ground and she has been very unlucky to not win one this preparation.

As expected MORNING CAPTAIN improved getting the right run in transit. He is a nice horse and the $4k purchase has now returned $330k. The M.Dunn/Colless combo came close to yet another winner when DUSTY GOLD looked home at the 100m to just get run down late. AZZALAND looked to one-bat a bit late under the 59.5kg but he is ready to win again now.

VINTAGE MOSS sat wide early, pushed on and won to make it a hat-trick of victories this time in. ALDINI had trialled brilliantly leading in and can be forgiven as it was lame after the race which explained the poor run.

Not sure what to make of the 3yr old race? The time was slow (like most on the day), it was a leaders race and they only got home in 35.28 ? SOOKIE was a terrific effort after being 3-4 wide most of the early stages. INDUBIOUS didn’t get a lot of luck and is worth another chance.

*That’s about it out of the day and we move on to another week of article leading into the Saturday Sunny Coast meeting!
