Super Saturday Wrap Up

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Well what a weekend of racing!

**Sydney threw up a lightning fast track with 5 races producing either a race record or class record.

STEPS IN TIME ran 1:21:67 over 1400m in dominating the Wiggle, while DIDNTCOSTALOT stopped the clock at 1:02:88 for the 1100m in the last race!

The highlight there was probably SHOOT OUT who just continues to produce each prep. The chips were down at the 200m but he put his head down as usual and fought like the great horse he is.

 The Wrap Up

**It was a tough day in Brisbane but hopefully ‘The Punt’ followers may have had something on our ‘early market’ selection and best bet BYMONASHEE at the $9-10 in early betting. As expected he got a lot of things in his favour and proved too hard to run down. There will be a couple of Blackbookers to come out of that race when I do the article later this week.

I thought DISCREET was enormous in winning the 3 year old sprint coming from near last, while SIR KNOX may well have rolled her with a slightly better run. It will win in town very soon.

**Flemington raced like the best track in Australia should and you can usually bet with confidence knowing the track will be spot on.

The 3 year olds saluted in the Australia Cup. SUPER COOL and FIVEANDAHALFSTAR settled down to fight it out with the Kavanagh trained SUPER COOL just getting there in the last few strides. GREEN MOON raced well but there does have to be a slight query on him at WFA.

SHAMEXPRESS had a nice jump out earlier in the week and ran a career best to win the Newmarket. He has always been a little underrated and was ridden very well by the in-form C.Newitt! I thought Nolen just set MOMENT OF CHANGE too big of a task to lead all the way in a Newmarket and was left out in front a bit soon.

The surprise of the day was FLYING SNITZEL making a mess of the heavily backed NORZITA. Coming to the 300m mark NORZITA was in 3rd gear and cruising to the lead. Just as you thought she would gap them FLYING SNITZEL let down with an incredible run to win easily (1-1/4L). It was a remarkable performance.

**Be sure to check in for the latest news, interviews and Blackbookers throughout the week!
