The Kosi

Say what you want about the Kosciusko, hasn’t there been some talk about it!

From people saying the owners and trainers of horses are grubs for trying to get the best deal they can to the concept being wrong to people loving it…. It’s all social media can talk about at present and facts don’t count for anything.

Some of the figures and rumours are laughable at the moment. What I will say is just sit back and relax, it’s like selling a house, the market decides where things land. We have heard of horses going for 20-25% THE MONSTAR has been done at 25% as stated on twitter by Cav camp. Many people on social media have been blowing up about that figure??? Slot owners and trainers have done exactly what they were meant to do, deals and there were 7 done in a day.

We have done a deal with details to come, it is with the Wagga crew from the William Farrer pub run by David Barnhill and we couldn’t be happier with them as our team! And from their side they seem every bit as pleased to have CARE TO THINK. We have copped a hammering (from some of these uninformed Derecks going off before acceptances) so hopefully those people who bagged the stable and owners might take a breath and wait for the reports before acting like children and listening to rumours next time. If both sides are happy you can sleep easy and stop the Chinese whispers!!

For starters these figures are around what the Everest deals are done for and the slot owners pay over $150,000 for the privilege. At 20-25% the $5 raffle ticket will have favourites running for between $120,000-$150,000, essentially be part of a stable for the build up, and I believe those slot holders are rapt (unlike social media). Have a look from both sides, if I was on the slot side and CTT wasn’t running I’d have done a deal day 1 for VICTOREM and I’d have taken 15% and been like a pig in shit.

There will be horses with less chance who will go closer to 40-50%, no doubt and run for up to $250k, it was always going to be a sliding scale and those original deals are clever.

For the connections of  VICTOREM who turned down seven figure offers so they could race the horse in Australia deserve every bloody dollar they can get out of a race like this, good on them. Again, they and their slot holder- both happy.

All trainers get set percentage so a better deal doesn’t get them more money, they are chasing the best deal for their owners who pay the bills month after month, that’s their job.

At the end of the day only one horse can win so that deal will end up being the best deal. One thing is it seems whichever slot wins will be looking at a six figure payout and all slot holders get a month to remember forever.

So for the people wanting to bag owners/trainers and trying to turn the concept into something negative, it’s not long till Xmas, not long till you can sit on the veranda and boo Santa again.

Good luck to everyone involved in the Kosi, may the best horse win and much fun be had.
