“The Punt” 26/11

Print Friendly

As mentioned earlier in the week it will be a shortened “The Punt” section this week as it is that time of year that most people like a break, and I’m no different. Even though it’s holidays I am doing form and feel I should get the preview up for the loyal followers of brissyraces.com.au.

Last week was a bit of a fill up with six winners from seven races but this week looks a lot harder. I will go over just what I see as the main chances in the Brisbane races.

Our Blackbookers running this week are:

Brisbane Race 5- KAR MA TE

Brisbane Race 7- READY TO RIP

*Both very good chances.

**I have done the form on a SLOW track, but I understand that it could even get to a heavy, but we will wait and see.

ALL PRICES ARE TATTS.COM PRICES AT TIME OF TYPING.

Race 1: As usual I am steering clear of the 2 year olds. I really liked the look of TOP RADA and it is good to see Excellantes full brother engaged here-  KHAANTANTES.

Race 2: Lots of pace on from the start here! DOUBLE IMAGE and TYCOON TATTOO both fly and are the main chances, so who gives in first and lets the other lead?? I am leaning to DOUBLE IMAGE as he is the one on the way up and looks to be the real improver. If they happened to go helter skelter up front than STEEL ZIP is classy enough to roll them at a good price $7 on Tatts. ADEBISI is great on his day, but extremely hard to catch! INVENTORY is another on pacer and the other solid chance in the race.

On Top: 8- DOUBLE IMAGE

Next Best: 7- STEEL ZIP, 10- INVENTORY, 4-TYCOON TATTOO

Race 3: I made THREE RED ROSES one of the best three bets in Brisbane when I talked with Steve Hewlett on our Thursday chat. She is a well bred staying mare who has been lightly raced and placed very well by her patient trainer Toby Edmonds. She won 3rd up last prep, and is 3rd up here off a great run behind a couple of decent horses. Happy to go with her e/w. RED GOD the big danger, but has been expensive this prep and that’s why I am steering the other way. A win would not surprise but seems under the odds in my eyes of form that’s not setting the world alight. Many chances away from them, but they are the two I will focus on.

On Top: 14- THREE RED ROSES

Next Best:  7- RED GOD

Race 4: Have been following PLAYTIME all prep and she is ready to win, but 58kg on a wet track has worried me out of her on top and have gone for PRETTY PINS as another of the best bet’s. She comes of a norrow loss to Il Cardinale who has been flying and From London who has won since. She drops back to 3 yr old grade and gets in 0.5kg above the limit. That’s goos enough for me and she goes on top. MASTER OF PUPPETS is well above avg and has run well on a slow track, keep it safe. DORCHESTER and HIDDEN JEWEL probably best of the rest.

On Top: 3- PRETTY PINS

Hardest To Beat: 1-PLAYTIME, 4- MASTER OF PUPPETS, 11- HIDDEN JEWEL

Race 5: Throwing some of my punting rules out the window here. GEBLITZ has been a touch disappointing but I feel $6.50 tatts have her at is a great e/w price. She handles wet, is a quality mare and I think she is ready to win. FIRE UP FIFI is who I fear most from a good gate. She goes very well and is also ready to produce her best. KAR MA TE should have won last start and is a blackbooker of ours. She goes well and with the light weight will run a great race here. HEARTS’N’DIAMONDS next best.

On Top: 4- GEBLITZ e/w

Next Best : 3- FIRE UP FIFI, 11- KAR MA TE, 7- HEARTS’N’DIAMONDS

Race 6: Don’t like this race and if anyone is looking to go wide in quaddie this may be the leg.. The wet makes it even tougher. IL CARDINALE is a solid type but he struggles if one has got a sharp sprint and often get overhauled. STREETS AWAY is the best horse but has 59.5kg on a wet track?  FROM LONDON = bad gate. EQUISSENTIAL  = wet track ? MR LIGHT BLUE wet track? Seriously not sure..

*I’m not talking punters out of them, just trying to give honest opinion.

On Top: 13- MR LIGHT BLUE

Others: 1-STREETS AWAY, 6- IL CARDINALE, 9- FROM LONDON

Race 7: Great sprint race! Really leaning to the bottom four runners. Originally was super keen SPIRIT OF BOOM, however if it gets very wet I would start to lose confidence. He is a great horse who we haven’t seen the best of yet! EXCELLANTES is another who has improved each prep but would rather it dry. He can still win but need a good ride from the gate. BELLTONE is an older horse but  jumped out of his skin last prep and if he continues to improve than this is right up his alley.. LISTEN SON needs it dry, but if that’s the case he can win. ESSINGTON is back and Hansen will have him ready to explode as he usually does 1st up, even with the big weight. READY TO RIP is the way I have gone as he handles all conditions and by this race they may be coming wide. (worth watching races before though) He is really good and will again run well. $6.00 + $2.15 on Tatts is a fair price.

On Top:  12- READY TO RIP

Next Best: 11-BELLTONE, 10- EXCELLANTES, 13- SPIRIT OF BOOM

Race 8: The last of our best bet’s is SKATING ON ICE. Colless, gate 6 and the sting out = a good bet in my eyes. She got the job done for us last start and Colless can ride her a couple of pairs further back from the good gate in a race full of pace! She will be extremely hard to beat. $3,80 + $1.70 is on the mark and I will be on her. SWAY TO GO at $11 looks overs and is a good front running type. SOLZHENITSYN is full of class and must go in everything as well. He has bigger fish to fry, but can win. CELTIC DANCER and AQUATORIAL both very good chances if things fall their way. DEE BEE NINE silly odds at $35. Throw AUDACIOUS SPIRIT in if dry.

On Top: 7- SKATING ON ICE

Next best: 2-SOLZHENITSYN, 8- AQUATORIAL, 4- SWAT TO GO

I know a few followers printed off a heap of copies of “The Punt” for a bucks party and had a good day out, so you are always welcome to do that, or send links to racing mates etc.

Thanks again and good luck on the weekend!!
