“THE PUNT” Gold Edition plate day

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

“The Punt” section has come around again, and what a card we have to work with. The quadrella legs are especially hard but I’m sure it will pay plenty! Last week was a tough week, but it was good to get Maschino up as a special in Perth and was surprised it got out to nearly $4.

We have had a great run with our Blackbookers and we have the biggest stable running for us this weekend in the history of the site! I can’t believe how many, but I am sure there are some winners there.

On the BLACKBOOKERS we better check out our stable this week:

Brisbane Race 1 no.5 SHEZAHOTSHOT

Brisbane Race 2 no.1 SIZZLING

Brisbane Race 3 no.1 SNIPZU

Brisbane Race 5 no.4 CARRY ME BLUEY

Brisbane Race 6 no.3 SKATING ON ICE

Brisbane Race 7 no’s  4-BIGGLES  +  6-EASY RUNNING

Sydney Race 4 no.1 SCOUTING WIDE

Sydney Race 7 no’s 10-LITTLE VICKI  + 9-GUNAWATI

Perth Race 2 no.7  MASCHINO

Perth Race 5 no.12 KEEPER’S COURT

Perth Race 9 no.6  CAVES ROAD

Race 1: Really like this race. Great way to start the day. I think we can base the whole race around 3 horses in particular- SHEZAHOTSHOT + KAR MA TE + MR LIGHT BLUE. Possibly a box 3 quinella or an any2 with the two you like. SHEZAHOTSHOT (SCRATCHED) has been a very good horse to the followers of the site. This may be her last run this prep before a possible tilt at the Grafton Cup next July. She has opened at $6.50 + $2.30 on Tattsbet and that is very inviting in a race that drops away after the three I have mentioned. Forget her last run when she was crunched, and she is up to winning. MR LIGHT BLUE is now up to his pet trip and ready to fire after a few runs back. He is very good and is also an ok price at $3.80 on Tatts. KAR MA TE has been running well each start and does look very promising so must be respected, but $2.50 is too short in my mind. HUME and SIR PRESIDENTE the others with some chance.

*I will either back Shezahotshot e/w, or win bets on her and Mr Light Blue.

Hardest To Beat:  7- KAR MA TE, 2-HUME, 10-SIR PRESIDANTE

Race 2: Still not too keen on these two tear old races, especially with a $1.20 fav! May be tempted to have a trifecta. Would look at     1 // 2,3,10

*We will know a lot more after this race as too what to follow for the millions.

Race 3: Don’t like race 2, and I am not interested at all here either. Would love to help you out, but not tipping for the sake of coming up with something.

*Don’t have to bet every race.

Race 4: Now I am keen to get involved. One of our best bet’s come up here in THE RINGMASTER. A very good horse that ran well behind Adebisi 2nd up last prep. Also had form around Excellantes and The Barracks, which stacks up well. Even luck in running and I’d be very surprised if he was beaten. Thought he may have been a touch better than the $2.50 at the moment. I’m happy just backing it here, but those looking for other chances- HEADTURNER is a good galloper who has trialled ok. REQUESTED will push forward, is in good form and going for a hat trick of wins. MISS BARWANG, POLITELY and ARMA can all run well.

Race 5: The start of what looks like an outstanding Quaddie. I will be going short as CARRY ME BLUEY looks to be the one, but $1.75 is bordering on silly! He does meet WONDERFUL LASS 1kg better at the weights, and I’m sure Munce won’t take off before acceptances this time. My  only query on him is if the last 3 runs he has had when the jockey has taken off at the 600m may have him wanting the paddock? It is always a chance after a few gut busters. WONDERFUL LASS looks the main danger and is a classy mare. BRAVE THE WAY is an interesting runner coming back for Bailey, however Colless is off and Taylor on?? Im not sure why. His form last prep was around Forteller who was awesome in Melbourne as was Sophie’s Spirit who he got close to. May be worth thought if going wider in Quad. They are the three main hopes as I see it. DANAGAZE best of the rest.

Race 6: As long as the track dries as expected SKATING ON ICE can bring up her hat trick in style. She is in outstanding form and Colless knows her back to front! Blinkers go on first time and in a slow run race I think she can sit on the pace which would be a great scenario. FEMINA FASHION is a quality mare with 58.5kg and coming off a let up, but class will take her a long way. There are three others at really good odds who I am keen to play first four’s with. CICARELLI is first up and does have a second to Born To Rock to her name, and that was in a listed race, she is $26. CARIAD is $13 and has been out of form and up to her tricks, but Gollan has taken blinkers off and she can improve. LUMINOUS HARMONY fell last start when working into it beautifully and is $17. DUAL CHAMBER is only $6, but her last run was very good and must be included.

*Good race for trifecta or first 4.

Trifecta–First 4:     3// 1,2,4,7,12

Race 7: $200,000 FIRST FOUR JACPOT ON TATTSBET> I’ve got pace coming from 1,2,10,11,14 and 15. On top of that there are a few that can find a position behind the pace from good gate (including BIGGLES and SHOW A PRINCE). Have a feeling they may be the two. BIGGLES goes up 3.5kg, but he is very underrated. He will appreciate the 1200m with a hot tempo and has to be respected. SHOW A PRINCE was sound enough 1st up and Colless stays on which is a good sign. Hard to beat. ROCKET TO GLORY drops 2kg and really liked his 2nd up run. Usually takes a couple of runs and then holds form well, so ready to roll here. MR FAVULOUS excellent 1st up after being 3 wide and toughed it out. Gate 16 and issue again and goes up 2.5kg on that run but will run well. EASY RUNNING is a blackbooker and went enormous 1st up. With any luck from gate 18 he can be a major player. AQUATORIAL comes off a close 4th to Skating On Ice and can go close. HOLLYWEIRD is a nice filly who will get things to suit with the pace on and allows her to flash late. VIA DEL CORSO is a massive chance and don’t take much notice that he didn’t beat much last start. He is classy and the one on an upward spiral.

*Unbelievably hard race to dissect.  More chances than I list below, and going wide in quadrella.

Race 8: There is no doubt THEFIFITHHOLE is the horse to beat here. He will jump and run as he does each time and be very hard to run down. On this occasion though I have his main three or four dangers being the horses parked behind him (even though they may be 4 lengths away in the run). I am giving PROST one more chance. He pulled up lame after his last run and can be forgiven for that. He chased home Fillydelphia and Carry Me Bluey his two starts prior and they would be clear fav’s in this, but you are shopping around $6 for PROST. When THEFIFTHHOLE comes across from the wide gate I expect EMVOSS to also trail across and sit third or fourth in running, so his gate may not be too big of an issue. He is up to this. DUX BELLORUM had terrific form before he took it up to Cape Kidnappers and paid the price for it. From gate 3 he can camp third the rails and be given every chance. ROCK HOME late is the other one who will be up on pace and trying to run down the leader. His last two runs have been really good and is some hope. Best roughies for those going wide- GLOW HEART, PRIMED and SANTO DE LAGO can all come hard late at odds.

*Good race to finish on, and not much would surprise.

Value: 2-PROST
