Brisbane Race 3 No.8 – SPARKLING SOUND ew

Brisbane Race 6 No.2 – MISHANI WARRIOR ew

BRISBANE Quadrella:

(Gonna go skinny this weekend and hope for a decent % without having to break the bank)

1,3,7 —-  1,2 —– 1,3,14  —– 1,2,3,4,5,6

*Melbourne Race 5 No.3 – SENSIBILITY

*Brisbane Race 1 No.8 – SHADOWSIDE

Steve Hewlett’s Best:

*Sydney Race 5 No.4 EL ROCA

Race 1:

Always extremely hard when you have the unraced against horses with a bit of experience. No matter what some people say it is always a bit of a guessing game.

I am guessing RED BOWERS trial was good enough to win this. I won’t take silly odds, however if $4+ was on offer I may have a bet.

I AM BOSS and AIMEE both ran very well last start against SARISARA who I think is a nice horse so they are obviously the ones to beat here.

On Top:  7- RED BOWERS

Next Best:  11- AIMEE

Race 2:

Another one of these staying races where they take it in turns, or will they?

I believe HI SON is probably the best horse in this race and there should be enough speed for him to run over them again. He is a horse you have to be a bit quiet on but I hope they don’t get cute on him, I’d get him to the outside and let rip instead of looking for gaps.

DAZZLE US is the main danger off a good Sydney run, but has been very good all prep. Will be in front of HI SON in the run and could be hard to catch. Another key could be the engagement of the senior jockey in Byrne where most of the main rivals have apprentices (not being detrimental to them, it’s just a plus).

NOISY OCEAN is a horse I simply can’t catch but is well placed here and gets a lovely run.

BANG ON is going as good as ever and is another live chance. SECRET GARDEN and BOREHOLE are in the too hard to catch basket for me!

On Top:  6- HI SON    +    8 – DAZZLE US

Race 3:

This is one of the tricky races for the day but a couple are going particularly well.

SPARKLING SOUND has been flying and simply forget her last run where things didn’t pan out and the track was soft. She is more than up to this and I think we will see a positive ride from Munce. He goes back on and last time he was up on her she won by 5L.

The other horse is PASQUINEL who is as consistent as any horse in Brisbane. This is a step up and will have to go back from the gate but he has a spectacular turn of foot that will give him a chance to run down the leaders.

DELGADO PILLI and BUSH AVIATOR are the horse who could fill the trifecta.

*Prices may be the deciding factor but could entertain a win bet on both.

Trifecta boxed: 1,2,4,8

Race 4:

At first glance it looks a great race for TEAR IT UP who has always promised a lot and is in good form. She does have the awkward gate but the main concern is lumping the big weight. Interesting that Gollan has decided to not claim with an apprentice. May be confident?

I have a slight concern with the fact LITTLE BIT DITSY seems to have a ‘flat spot’ in her races and then flies late. She would obviously be better suited at EF but from gate 1 with the light weight this has to be her chance to stand up.

Can’t knock INTERJECT who is going for the Hat-trick and DARLIN’ JULES in career best form.

Hardest To Beat:  3- TEAR IT UP

Race 5:

A race full of chances to kick off the quaddie. Won’t go over all of them but here are a few.

EXCELLENT POINT comes up from NSW and should be ready to rumble 3rd up. Carries weight fine so not too concerned with the 59kg. Gets a lovely run behind the speed and should get every chance to win.

TERMS OF TRADE is a horse Kelso Wood seems to particularly like and on that alone you have to respect. 1200m is now perfect and with a bit of cover will be the one to beat.

There should be a bit of speed and if that is the case 3 swoopers should be given chances. SINGLE SPIRIT is an underrated gelding who was extremely good last prep. He will be better over 1400m+ but can sprint well fresh. MISHANI PERSAUDER is going very well and just needs some breaks to go his way with his get back pattern. HEART OF MANY is another who will want further but can sprint well fresh also.

*Hard event!

On Top:  1- EXCELLENT POINT  $8 (tatts)

Hardest To Beat:  7 – TERMS OF TRADE

Race 6:

With MISHANI WARRIOR at $5 and around the each way mark I would be happy to take that. Ready to produce best and last start was actually ok. Got to the wrong part of the track which I said I hoped they would avoid and get to the outside. This is a suitable race and he will be right there.

FILLYDELPHIA has mixed her form a bit but again meets a field that is not up to her at her very best. Deserved fav.

DE DOZEN STARS maybe best of the rest and I simply can’t catch NOOGOORA BURR!

On Top:  2- MISHANI WARRIOR   $5

Hardest To Beat:  1-FILLYDELPHIA

Race 7:

Two very classy horses at the top. About 3 other chances and many of them have drawn the carpark.

I’d love LONDAHERO to win but I can’t be on from 18. He will need a lot of luck but he is the best horse and will sprout wings late, just have a feeling Colless will ride for luck and will need plenty of it!

AGITATE gets gate 1 and should be able to get in a good spot. His question is will he settle and run it out strong. EXCEEDINGLY was terrific last start and has to be hard to beat.

In saying that CHOOSE A SAGA meets him far better off and was 3 wide the entire last start. I think this is suitable and only question is how many push up inside him early? Happy to be on but thought we would be shopping better than $7.

*CHOOSE A SAGA should get the favours and the right run so safest option for mine.

Race 8:

‘field’ job in the quad??

I feel the top 6 have it between them. Lets have a look at them.

No.1- Even with the weight MISS IMAGICA seems the value and a silly price at $14… She only goes up 1kg from her last run that was very good in similar company.

No.2- CRACCO is very frustrating but has been in good form and screaming to win one. Gets the perfect run and every chance again.

No.3 FAINT PRAISE is a North Qlder with a great record. Will get out to big odds here but will run a good race. As honest as they come and will be strong late.

No.4- FRENCH LESSON went super in town last time out in a similar race and a repeat performance would have him in the money again.

No.5 STARGRILL BOY is going as good as ever. He beat home DOCTOR DAVID who was extremely impressive last weekend.

No.6 ALL TAKEN is a horse we have been all over at huge prices and she has been good with no luck. For some reason she is only $10 this week but will get his chance from gate 1.

*Looking for value and the top 6 are the main players.

Value:  6- ALL TAKEN   +   1- MISS IMAGICA
