Prices are www.tatts.com prices at the time of typing.

TATTS have a $100,000 carry over JACKPOT Quadrella’s in Sunshine Coast and Sydney this week so I will give numbers for both at the bottom of the article..

Blackbookers:

January 26
LONGSHOREMAN SUNSHINE COAST R3 No.1 (1400m) :

Race 1:

Pretty keen to kick the day off with SECRET GARDEN. Forgiving her last run and she gets a lot in her favour. 1800m and a wet track are perfect. Can’t believe she has opened up $3.50.. Not much value there coming of an avg run, but she is still on top.

CASTLE EXPRESS, DOLLY DOLLY and EPIC DRAGON are the one’s I’d consider the dangers.

On Top: 8- SECRET GARDEN

Race 2:

Another of these plain 2yr old races.. ARCHITECT should win all being equal but I’m not prepared to go anywhere near this race!

Race 3:

Again no value! I look for it where possible but it is hard to find any value in some races. $2.80 is probably not too bad but I wouldn’t be keen to take much shorter. This horse is airborne and more importantly LOVES a heavy track. For those reasons I can’t tip against him, but at the same time I’m not taking much shorter than that quote!

Forget VOLKHERE went around. Got caught up in the gates and went horrible. His run before that was excellent and Browne is a great fit for this horse.

First 4 horses can be DIVINE CITY, VIKING HEART, DARTH and REVITALISE who may need this run to top him off.

On Top: 1- LONGSHOREMAN

Hardest To Beat: 8- VOLKHERE

Race 4:
11 SCRATCHINGS and not keen here at all

The market has some clear fav’s and look to be around the mark but I think this is the race I’m looking away from them. A golden rule is to look for rock hard fit horses when you strike heavy ground. EMVOSS is not that but has trialled and on his day is capable of winning this. Just didn’t seem to come up last prep after a hard campaign before that. At $13 he will get a little of mine.

SHOW AFFECTION ran 2nd on Millions day and $4.50 her seems a fair price too.. Has the wide gate but that may not be a concern on a wet track.

SINISTER PRINCE went through the grades beautifully 12 months ago and looks a very good horse. The question is taking on this grade 1st up off a year’s break?

HODGIE AND MO won’t remember the last time he carried 54.5kg and with form around Vintage Moss and Saintly Lady he’s a major player!

*Not a great betting race, happy to just have small bet Emvoss.

On Top: avoiding this

Race 5:

EPIC was super 1st up. Wet track? And no jockey engaged early?

PURE PURRFECTION trialled very well and looks the horse on the way up. Definitely the one to beat but $3 ??

HUCKLEBERRY DANE at $17 who was solid enough in the Magic Millions sprint and NICKIERA at $35 are far from the worst in the race and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them around the money..

DEVIL’S MELODY would be my selection on a dead track but that looks unlikely..

** ANOTHER HEAP OF SCRATCHINGS THAT HAS RUINED THE RACE!

Race 6:

FILLYDELPHIA is a damn good horse but she has been given a good horses weight too (59kg). That is never easy to lump on a heavy track. Her last two runs have been outstanding and she still has to be around the money.

DOUBLE IMPACT around the $4.50 looks a decent bet on a wet track. I’ll be e/w that price but you will have to hold off to see if we have 8 runners. Ran well in the guineas here last year and he’s going well again this prep, has just been looking for the sting out.

They look to be the main players but if going wider there are a few to consider.

LUCKY LUNA is a different horse on this track (4 wins and a place from 7 starts). He also goes super on wet tracks.

JUGAHLATION has ? over the trip but is an absolute swimmer and will be on pace.

BEAUTIFUL TIMING going well, but this a steep climb in grade? Same story for DELAGO PILLI who has never gone better!

On Top: 6- DOUBLE IMPACT  – opened $4.50

Hardest To Beat: 2- LUCKY LUNA

Race 7:

How many get scratched over night?? Many have accepted without jockeys and I’d expect a fair few to come out.

ROCKY KING must go on top. 1000m is his bread and butter. He is rock hard fit and being by Easy Rocking I’d be surprised if he doesn’t handle it.

Ya damned if ya do and damned if ya don’t when it comes to tipping your own horse! Our Bloke CALDETES is more than up to this and on a dry track I thought he’d just about win. We honestly have no idea how he will handle the track but I am wrapped with the blinkers going on.

GENERAL JACKSON will run along and play ‘catch me if you can’. He won’t be able to run the exceptional times he does on a good track and that may play into the others hands.

TOM’S LUCK and NOOGOORA BURR Who has run in FAR better races are genuine winning hopes.

The horse to throw in trifecta’s is ON THE DECK at $101. He was $125 I think and that’s amazing. He may not be in super form but was trained on this track and ran 3rd at his only start on a heavy track behind FUSIL DE EVE and HOLEY GADOLEY at this track which is great form.

On Top: 1- ROCKY KING

Others: 9- CALDETES, 2- NOOGOORA BURR, 16- ON THE DECK

Race 8:

Simply looking for value in about the hardest race of the day. NUITS ST GEORGE is no star but this looks winnable for him. He is a few weeks between runs but back to the 1600m and I feel the wet will be in his favour. Colless will give him every chance and I think it’s worth the gamble at $26.

ARCTIC would have been a special for me on a dry track but a genuine wet is a little concern. He can run well but I can’t take small odds him.

1,2,3,10,12 are all hopes with the wet track but I’m looking wide in the last!

On Top: Not Keen again..
