The Wrap Up

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Welcome to another Wrap Up! May be a bit shorter and sweeter today.

Congrats to everyone who had another win. I always love hearing that the followers have had a good day. We had to change a few things up after scratching’s, so it is always worth checking back in after 8.30am if possible. Thanks to those who gave me the heads up that they had a win.

In Brissy we seen some good races and although a fair few horses up front won, you were able to make ground.

Race 1: Doubtfilly proved herself as a pretty good two year old backing up her last start victory with another strong effort. Optionality is also a terrific horse who always puts in (you’d love to have a share in her) She just rolled along again and was just run down in the last stride. Think Accidental is worth following. It was a good debut run after being wide all the way.

Race 2: All honours to Around The World. Tactic change and was ridden cold. It was a good plan and it payed off in spades! Al Faher seems to have come back a different horse. She will be winning soon. Favourite Devil’s Melody had little luck in the straight and can be forgiven.  There was a heap of pace and Beggin was used up early and then didn’t have a lot of luck in the straight. She is worth another go next time out.

Race 3: Really not much to report… Rare Subject led and won easy in a very weird race!

Race 4: Lucky Luna looked to be well placed and ready to win and that is how it played out. He didn’t actually seem to be travelling that well at the 800m, but he fought hard and prevailed. Diago is primed for a win after sharp improvement here.

Race 5: Not sure much can be taken out of this with the blanket finish. The first three will win their fair share of races though. Forgive Lady Agulhas who will pop up at big odds somewhere soon and go very close.

Race 6: The Ringmaster got the job done. Although there were a few tense moments when Beautiful Timing made a long wide run and got almost a half-length in front, The Ringmaster always looked as though he had plenty left. It’s only my opinion, but I think he is a far better chaser. It is hard to change things when you have a horse that can box seat like him, but if he drew a bad one day, I would not hesitate to ride him back as I think he would attack the line.

Race 7: A race full of great runs and there will be some winners come out of this race. Leealan took the running up as usual and deserved the win. Amber’s Crown was just as good under the big weight. Emmalene was simply outstanding and was the best run in the race. She was slow out and run into dead ends in the straight. Well Credentialled come from last to run 3rd and Judy’s Joy is able to run in far easier races and will win next start if they place her right. GOOD RACE.

Race 8: B.Baldwin said on RadioTab Saturday morning that he worked out a few things with Havatryst and that he felt he had him back to his best. That proved correct as a stack of money come for the horse and he saluted. Not too sure what Munce was doing on Achievements when Paprika went around him, and he then let The Sixties push out underneath him on straightening? The horse was not going good enough at that time, but it seemed strange. The first two are the ones to follow.

Race 9: A few punters may have forgotten exactly how good Thefifthhole was going before his break at the 1400m he kept running in. He is a speed machine and was always going to be hard to beat fresh and coming back in distance. Hampden and Knox who were the best backed runners were very disappointing on face value.

Run Of The Day: EMMALENE

Ride Of The Day: L.Cassidy (Havatryst)

**The main races were at Caulfield and the southerners can dead set keep that track. There is no doubt once a pattern is set and known a few races in, it does make it easier. But it is becoming a joke! Some punters try to say that you can tell by the rail movement, some say you can tell by the wind, but I don’t really believe anyone till you see how the races run. If I gave advice it would be simply don’t bet there. Or if you want to, wait till half way through the day and see how it’s playing. The rail was out last meeting and it was mad leader bias. Rail was out 7m again yesterday and you needed cover and to come down centre of the track because the wind… NO THANKS!

On the races there are a few to follow that I will throw in the Blackbookers through the week!!

**Today there are some decent race at the sunny coast. Here are some that I think can run well.

In Race 6 LADY COLOURS looks to dominate again and she has been good to us. Probably wouldn’t be keen to take odds on, but maybe a cheap trifecta could be the go. SNIPZU is a good wet tracker and can run well too.  4,5 – 4,5 -1,2

Race 7 no. 8 CHIPP’N’AWAY E/w if odds allow.

In the Sunshine Coast Cup I have been big on Ready To Rip and Startsmeup, but I am going cold a bit now. They could dominate but it is always tricky when all the rain is about. You don’t know whose missed work etc. I’m just gonna sit back and watch the Cup.

**Thanks again and make sure you check in through the week for more articles to keep you up to date!
