The Wrap Up

Time for a quick wrap up of the weekend:

I won’t go over the Gai + Singo debacle at this stage as everyone has heard something. We will just let it play out next week. It has been put back till Monday.

Sydney racing seen RELIABLE MAN stamp himself as potentially the best horse in the land with a dominant display in the Queen Elizabeth 2000m beating IT’S A DUNDEEL. Unfortunately on pulling up the horse was lame and tests are still being done. It is believed the initial thought of a tendon injury is wrong and it may be a foot problem? Let’s hope he is good to go in the spring.

 Thumbs up

*Let’s touch on Brisbane though as the nation’s focus will be on us for the next 5-6 weeks. The talking point had to be BUFFERING. There were questions about his fitness leading in but Rob Heathcote had him ready to rumble and he took some good gallopers to school. He did work early and still put 3L on them early in the straight. The most impressive thing about the win was the time of 1:08:54, that is sizzling carrying 58.5kg! He won by 3.3L and there was only one other 1200m race on the day (far lesser company) that ran 12L slower. He is just a marvel and the little setbacks will play into connections hands as this carnival will now set up perfectly and he looks almost unbeatable in this type of form.

SPIRIT OF BOOM would have needed that run being a long time between runs and may even go to the Goodwood 1200m Group 1 where he would be competitive.

*PROVERB has promised a lot this prep and the drop in grade and the trip north provided him with a win that may well give him the confidence to go right on with it over the winter. It is incredible the strike rate Peter Snowden has when he hand picks horses for the winter.

*I have always liked MARGINS and he is on target for a good race after getting to his right trip for the first time in a while and looking very strong late. He handles all conditions and would now be fully wound up. He may well be one of the shining lights for QLD over the carnival, but only time will tell.

*The BLACKBOOK is now up to go over and add to your list. Interviews and news will be posted through the week.
