Tiara day Wrap Up

The last Group 1 of the season has been run and won! RED TRACER continued Chris Waller’s dominance of all things Australian racing with a very impressive 2 ¼ L win over the ever consistent STREAMA and Moody trained FLORIA who was as game as ever.

RED TRACER had been extremely unlucky in her career to not have a Group 1 win to her name and she won this race like a good thing. The ride was good from Rawiller and in the end $4.50 was a nice win for her followers. The disappointing run was PERON, but she was on the back-up and on a heavy surface so I am sure we will see the best of her in the coming 12 months.Horse shoe

The TATTS cup was a bit of a blowout with RIALYA winning at $20. Of course we had it as the best roughie in the Ipswich cup the week before and I could not have it this week off the run there as it seemed to have every chance. SHENZHOU STEEDS attacked the line and he only needs a wet surface to go very close at the Sunshine Coast this weekend. ROTHERA and IBICENCO were both pass marks and will always be competitive in these events.

The Healy stakes 1200m was a terrific race with HOWMUCHDOYOULOVEME hanging tough to win with 60kg. As expected when SHAFEEQ was scratched on Saturday, HOWMUCHDOYOULOVEME pushed forward and Nash sent him for home on the corner. For a moment it looked as though RIVER LAD had him on toast at the 150m but he couldn’t wear down the fav and it was one of the better wins on the day. The Ramornie should be on the cards now, he would carry another big weight there but who would be game to say he wouldn’t simply win again.

*The other winners worth noting were simply no-brainers with their trainers dropping them back in grade, placing them perfectly and getting the cash. FIRE UP FIFI dominated from the front with a great D.Browne ride and paid a nice $3.90, while DISCREET dropped back from a narrow defeat in a Group 2 race to a 3 year old handicap. She looked a good thing on paper and it was amazing she paid around $2.60 on the totes around Australia.

*Hopefully you found a winner or two to help the week out. Be sure to follow Brissyraces for the latest news and interviews leading into the big Sunshine Coast meeting!
