Latest with a couple of the team from our mates at TOPLINE THOROUGHBREDS.
As always the team are doing a good job and their Stratum filly seems to be coming along well.
Raffinato in 2YO Trial
Exciting young Topline two-year-old Raffinato will line up on Monday for her first official trial at Hawkesbury over 760m. Trained out of Rosehill by Tim Martin the daughter of Champion sire Fastnet Rock has shown plenty of early potential to date and will be given her chance on Monday to show this on the track when she takes on a small field in the open two-year-old event. Given the fact that she takes her place in a field of only four for the run is the perfect scenario to allow a juvenile to gain the experience without concern of having to deal with “traffic” in the run and in turn will give her a solid base to work from heading towards a first up run later in the campaign.
Raffinato (which is Italian for Polite) was purchased from the Inglis Classic yearling sale in January this year by Topline Thoroughbreds and has shown plenty of potential for her connections as she heads into Mondays trial. Not only does Raffinato boast to be a progeny of Australia’s hottest stallion on her sire line but she also hails from a stellar pedigree on her dam side that traces back to L’On Vite, Milanova and Holy Roman Emperor. With breeding like that it is little wonder that this filly is showing plenty of potential in what is only her first solid preparation as a racehorse.
So far Raffinato has shown to be a very forward type of horse and has stood up to the rigor of her training regime, all going well following Monday’s event Raffinato has been pencilled in for a possible run at Rosehill in a two-year-old race late November as a first up start. We wish all the owners the best of luck for Monday and look forward to hopefully seeing you all at the races in the not too distant future.
Stratum filly springs into action
Topline Thoroughbreds were pleased with the news at the start of last week when the Stratum filly out of Cyclone Annie (Hurricane Sky), purchased by Topline Thoroughbreds from the 2012 Magic Millions Premier yearling sale, had her first jump out of the barriers this preparation since resuming work only at the start of this month. Springing the gates she was quickly into stride and comfortably put two to three lengths on another two horses jumping out with her, maintaining the margin over the duration of the work.
Trained by Bjorn Baker at Warwick Farm this filly is certainly showing the “get up and run” qualities that are evident throughout her pedigree. By the Golden Slipper winner Stratum who has also produced a Golden Slipper winner and the winner of the 2012 Yellowglen Tristarc stakes in Streama at Caulfield on the weekend, this filly is also closely related to the outstanding 2yo stakes winner Ponton Flyer not to mention other stakes winners in Bank Robber, Peta’s Potion, Miss Octopussy and Kwassa Kwassa.
Stemming from such depth in her pedigree it comes as no surprise that she is on track to run early and she is already showing that she intends to do just that. Heading into this preparation the initial intention for this filly is the Wyong Magic Millions 2yo race worth $200,000 held in December – “at this stage she is already ahead of where she needs to be” was the comment from Baker following the jump out in reference to the Magic Millions Wyong feature.
Opportunities to purchase shares in this outstanding young filly are currently available and it would seem that it wouldn’t be too long before you would have a chance of a return on investment.
