Topline Youngsters back in work

*

Time for a quick update from the champions at Topline. The filly AMARCHI is flying at present rattling off a super sectional at Randwick last week. They are trying to find a race over the carnival so let’s hope they head north!

Time certainly does fly, especially in the racing game and that has certainly been the case with the Topline yearling purchases from earlier this year. Purchased only at the beginning of the year the Topline youngsters have been broken in, had a lengthy break in the paddock and are already this week back in to begin their early education and begin to learn what life as a racehorse is all about.Off The Rails

The idea behind having the yearlings already back in and experiencing the rigours of work is to have them up and ready to go when the first of the official two-year-old trials roll around later on in September, which by the way the year is flashing past so far, will be on us before we know it. All juvenile racehorses will experience some degree of maturity related issues, be it shin soreness, joint soreness etc. this is inevitable, however by bringing them into work early and progressively loading the work on them helps strengthen and mature joints quicker as well as promoting bone density. They will spend the next three weeks or so in pre-training doing bit of light trot and canter work as their fitness levels are increased and they get used to the routine. At that time they will then head into the main stables to continue with a more intense program of work including being put through the barriers and working amongst other horses, this is all to school the youngsters on life lessons and open their eyes as to what to expect in their racing careers.

Having a well developed, seasoned, early crop of two-year-old’s will be the aim for Topline to give us an edge when the first races for juveniles arrives such as the Breeders Plate or the Gimcrack stakes. Also, with a number of Topline’s yearlings again purchased from the Magic Millions premier yearling sale, they will be eligible to run in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic worth $2 million, certainly a very nice carrot to chase and it will be our intention to have as many chances as we can aimed that way.

If you are interested in purchasing a share in any of the yearlings that Topline is syndicating this year or if you would like further information on the horses, then please don’t hesitate to contact the office at any time on 02 9831 5623 or email nick@toplinethoroughbreds.com.au
