Trial blackbook and Battle of the bush

Battle Of The Bush is the country series we have in qld. It’s sensational we want to have a series like this but I’d love to see the powers to be sit down and really go over it and see what they can improve. We have had a big cash injection we could use money from but also we have so many rubbish meetings not needed in the state where you could save more than enough to fund a HUGE country series.

(For example there are 31 races on Saturday in Sth East QLD, within about 250km of each other, people from interstate can’t believe it). Some will say it’s because usual Friday and Sunday aren’t there but even so, that’s still too many. And I’m an owner too, I know that many races help owners but it’s simply too many, a whole meeting could go each fortnight and be put into top up the other meetings.

I believe the winners are getting around $6500 for winning a heat, that’s ridiculously small, that would have to triple to start off with. Also heats would have to be run on closest TURF track and televised on whoever has the rights at the time (SKY etc). Why? Because you need to be on turf for form and on the televised tracks because you want races that are interesting to punters and encourage them to bet into those heats. Then with proper video’s and data as well as a bit of build up because people may have followed the heats, the final will be a spectacle and a betting proposition.

But QLD is a big state? You bet it is, so we now pay from 5th-10th etc, it’s bugger all for finishing down there so triple that payment to more than cover the costs of competing in this series/heats if they are run at the bigger/better tracks which means more travel. Whatever is needed to make it work.

*So many other options, you could also have a country stayers race, obviously not a big series like the Battle Of The Bush but run it on the same day and maybe a race for just provincial horses and make it their own day away from the carnival. Anyway, what I’m saying is let’s just not be happy with ok, let’s go for GREAT and if there is money throw an extra 100-150K at this series and make it something we can be proud of and want to follow/bet into.

Keen to know if others feel the same or if you think what we have now is fine and we should leave it alone??
