Under The Eiffel to improve at “The Farm”

Last week we had a little look into some of the Aquanita runners, and again this week they have another top class horse in one of the features.

Under The Eiffel is in the Daybreak Lover 1400m and after his first up effort that looked solid without being spectacular I thought it would be a good time to catch up with Sam Doran who is Tony Vasil’s number one man in Melbourne and see how the horse has progressed into this weekend, and check on a couple of other smart ones the stable has.

Under The Eiffel ran 6th beaten 2.4L in the Fred Best classic and I asked Sam what he thought of the effort? “Seven weeks between runs, he may have needed that run, he had a couple of trails leading into it, but raceday is the best way to get them fit and bring them up to the mark. That run will really have brought him up to the mark and he should run well Saturday.” Doran said.

Another point that we discussed was the fact that Eagle Farm will suit this bloke far more than Doomben as he takes a while to balance up and can then let down nice down the long straight. Sam said that his best races in Melbourne were on the roomy Sandown track which also allows him to balance up. It is a very important point because the racing completely changes when you go across the road and get to the bigger track.

Balavan is another nice type for the Aquanita camp who ran last week and again was a decent run. “It wasn’t a disappointing effort, he was only beaten 1.5L, and I think for his next race he may get out to possibly the 1200m-1350m range.” Sam said.

He also added that the horse had pulled up well and for the time being they will try to pick out a few nice races for him over our carnival.

Kingdom Of War was a very well bred horse on debut yesterday at Doomben and after dwelling slightly at the start, he got out and was green in the straight but finished it off very nicely to give the impression that the Vasil camp are going to have a lot of fun with him in the future. Sam said that they have a lot of time for the horse and that the run was what they expected from the horse and with natural progression he will be a nice type in the future.

It was great to catch up with Sam Doran as he is a very knowledgeable bloke and always willing to give an insight into team Aquanita.

*We will also start to show a few clips that Sam puts together called AQUANITA TV that goes on youtube. They like to answer questions about owning horses, some horse injuries and all subjects that people want to know when they own a horse. I will post one up next week and hopefully make it an ongoing page on brissyraces.com.au as they are very interesting and I am sure people will appreciate the Aquanita team putting these video’s together.

**In other racing news Glyn Schofield has picked up the ride on Queenslander BUFFERING in the Stradbroke.

**Kerrin McEvoy will ride BENFICA in the Sires produce 1400m on Saturday.

**Remember to check in tomorrow for “The Punt” section, and spread the word to mates to get them on board as well. It is FREE after all, and that’s not the case for many other sites these days. “The Punt” section has come up with the Quaddie the last two weeks and hopefully we can come up with some more winners to help the members pockets out!

Cheers
