Toowoomba trainer Mark Webb has a few interesting runners heading to town on the weekend and he is usually thereabouts with nearly all his team when he brings them of a Saturday.
The first race on the card seems to be tricky proposition and Mark’s horse Primed is a last start winner defeating Heartshaker over the 1600m at Eagle Farm. Primed has had two starts at the mile and is undefeated so far. Offsetting that is of his three starts at Doomben he has only a single third to his name. Mark gave me his thought’s on the consistent galloper. He said he would have liked Primed to have drawn a decent barrier and the main concern was probably that Doomben is a different proposition than Eagle Farm where he enjoys racing. He feels if the horse is ridden well and can get a bit of luck in running that he should again run quite well.
He did come from behind Heartshaker that day and Larry Cassidy looked to be sitting pretty at the 200m but Primed wore him down in the long straight at Eagle Farm.
Paladin was beaten a few lengths last start by Lucky Morna and did make up some nice ground late in that race. Webb feels that he would be looking for further and again would probably enjoy the roomier track across the road, but is aiming at the races later in the carnival so hopes he races well with an eye to those races.
He also has Tripitz in on Saturday, but you would expect this race to be too short for him at this stage of his prep.
Webb knocks up winning races in Toowoomba and places them well when he comes to town, so don’t be surprised if they race well on the weekend.
