NOTE: Colless has been injured and will not ride at this meeting (and probably not for a couple of weeks)

As most followers would know I am not a big fan of the midweek races in Brisbane as that is when most of the rail movements happen but I thought there were a couple that could run well.

In these midweek races some horses can be surprisingly well supported so as usual I would not be falling in to stupid odds if that’s the case.

Doomben Race 1 No.10- WIDOW’S WALK

*Love horses having their 2nd race start as they improve so much from their initial outing. This horse ‘green’ as grass, ran in behind them most of the way and still hit the line extremely well.

*By no means over the line but should have a bit of quality on most of these. Also helps to be in a very good stable.

Doomben Race 4 No.14- VINTAGE BON

*This might be the one they ask you to take silly odds. Should be winning with the Looks Like The Cat and Aimee form. The biggest issue is the awkward gate and I’m sure they will push forward early to try and offset it.

*May just stand out in a cheap trifecta instead of taking the shorts.

Doomben Race 6 No.2- LEVER LEVER

*This is a NZ bred horse we have followed and he looks really well suited in a very interesting race.

*Have respect mostly for ROCBOLT who looks a real stayer in the making and SAVVY KINGSTONETTE who turned her form around down south last start but feel with Colless and gate 1, LEVER LEVER will get every chance to stand up. 58kg always a query but this is not that strong and I reckon the form is good with Snapcrackle beating him last start, she is a nice filly who would towel these up.

Matt Dunn Racing

Doomben Race 10 No.15- WRITE CHEEK

*Looks like this is first run for the Matt Dunn yard. Stable has been quiet but I’m sure there are a few that will stand up today.

*She may be the value on the card (no prices up as I type). If you can get $8-10 that would interest me. She gets in with the 54kg, gate 5 for Colless and up to 1350m. Some may question the step in trip after a month off but M.Dunn is more than good enough to cover that. Should run a pretty cheeky race.
