Weekend Wrap Up

Let me just start by saying you can’t get perfect tracks every week, it just doesn’t happen, however from a punting point of view the Sydney and Brisbane cards Saturday were a real shame. An incredible rail bias where it just wasn’t racing. They may have well started with the barriers on a 45 degree angle the fence was that much of an advantage at both places. Sydney was beyond a joke with horses letting down nicely on the outside only to plateau and have no chance. Brisbane was much the same (as predicted with rail out) but it was worse than I thought it would be.

Just find the frontrunners you say? Sounds like a plan but owners/trainers and jockeys all throw normal patterns out and push hard, races are then run at breakneck speed and maps are out the window (like the last race which was against the pattern, simply because of the way the day was going). The run of BRIBIE was absolutely outstanding, it was just a shame that it was impossible for him to win!

Like I said, it just isn’t good for punters let alone owners or trainers with their plans for their horses.

*Because of all the reasons above it’s hard to know if the form from the day will stand up.Binoculars

Race 1:

Many will knock QFIGHTER again but his effort on this track was great. BAHSA got the run of the race and won. SHAZZLE PAZZLE also just too far back to win but the run was good.

Race 2:

ROCKET TO GLORY found the fence and sprinted home in 33.49, game over.

Race 3:

MISHANI WARRIOR was one of the biggest tragedy’s you have ever seen! He should have won this by about 3L with his head on his chest but instead he was climbing over their backs and checking the whole straight. VOLKHERE will win shortly and take nothing away from BILLY AUCASH who got the money.

Race 4:

Don’t like getting too critical of jockeys because it’s a bloody tough gig, but I’m sure Cassidy would love his ride over again. HEART OF MANY had gate 2 but Larry ‘lost the bunny’ down the back straight and was in the last 4-5 horse and cluttered up. The rails was the place to be and he forced himself very wide in the straight and threw any chance of winning out the window. BOREHOLE was also a very good run. CRAZY MAMMA was good and the winner UNO FIVE was the best ride (and smartest) to get the cash.

Race 5:

ZA MAGIC led them along but a 10/10 ride from Munce on FLYING HOME was the difference. SAINT ENCOSTA was good from the back. Story of the race was the amount of ordinary runs…

Race 6:

SUSASHI and THE STOREMAN led them and run 1,2.. Surprise surprise.. BRIBIE’s run was unbelievable! His effort on this track was clearly the best of the entire day in my eyes. I’m now a believer. Many continue to knock the horse, but get him on hard tracks (and fair) and he is a bloody nice horse.

Race 7:

Munce and Harrison went head to head the entire 1640m here on the leaders track, were gone on the corner but still fought it out until EQUISSENTIAL put his head out right on the line to beat them both. It again showed how the track was playing as they had no right to be in the finish going at that tempo.

Race 8:

BODEGA NEGRA was very very good in running over the top of the promising OLYMPIC ANTHEM and VOODOO BLUE MAGIC. All three do have plenty more wins in them and this race should stack up in the future.. pineapple

**The racing in Melbourne was awesome yesterday. I was blown away by ATLANTIC JEWEL and thought FIORENTE and GREEN MOON were very pleasing. We have a heap of BLACKBOOKERS to add this week so keep an eye out for them early in the week.

**My mates and I have a couple of our syndicate horses racing each other on Wednesday, so wish us luck! County Commands and Caldetes line up in the class 3 over 1000m. Both should run very well and I’d be surprised if one of them didn’t win. Bring it on!!
