Weekend Wrap Up

Hard to read too much into the day at Doomben with all the rain around and a Heavy 8 surface. I am the first one to have a whinge when the tracks are going ordinary but even with the rain Doomben raced 10 times better than Rosehill and Caulfield which were the laughing stock again this week. I have no idea what is going on there but thank god we have Doomben and that there is talk of  Eagle Farm getting an upgrade ASAP! Well done to the track staff for the track we had Saturday.Brissyraces Image

Not a lot to note but there were a couple of performances I have to mention.

EMERALD DUKE was ridden well by Colless but even those who had their cash on wouldn’t have believed the ease at which he let down and simply kept going further in front, almost under a hold. This bloke does have a future and he is still lightly raced. The runner-up WALHAAN is knocking on the door and may do a space job midweek shortly as well so it will pay to follow him!

In the fillies and mares race DISCREET can be completely forgiven, she was in the stewards report for cardiac arrhythmia. LADY ECHELON returned a winner for Nat McCall and what a well-deserved win. She was consistent through our carnival and has obviously improved from that prep. JACQUETTA was superb.  She is a late bloomer as many of the Encosta De Lago’s can be and the Guy stable is going great guns.

RUDY won the 3 yr old race and what a future he has. 1400m+ is his go and I still think he will be as affective on the dry. Really like him, along with INTO THE RED who loomed to win but simply needed the run. He will string a couple together for sure and he will be in the blackbook this week.pineapple

The main race was the Recognition and ABSOLON drifted out to $18 but was too good. He is going better than he ever has and this is a good level for him. FILLYDELPHIA was as game as ever and ELMANTOSH circled them on the corner to land in the money. Some money for ZEDLION but he bled and is out for 12 months.

**Remember to check in for the all-important Blackbookers this week**
