Weekend Wrap Up

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Plenty of winners and the xmas Quaddie was a bonus for ‘THE PUNT’ followers which is always good!

Here is a quick look at what happened.

Race 1:

Looked an ok race but not the top bunch of 2yr olds. CELESTIAL DRAGON is a ready-made 2yr old who does everything right, that is the biggest asset you want this time of the year. SAGATONA was the unlucky runner who should have finished closer. It will be better for the run and can go close soon.

Race 2:

SEEKING MORE was good here. Pressured up front but I thought the way he battled was good. Bunched finished and a fair few ran well enough, even horses like THE BLACK SUPERMAN who was beaten 3L get a pass mark going forward.

Thumbs up

Race 3:

Can’t believe the $1.60 mark GENERAL EXHIBIT was around and it would have been a tragedy if he was beaten when the gap closed. Fav backers took a breath when he pushed through and got the cash! He is going particularly well this time in work.

Race 4:

Not a lot to note here, JOPA was well placed, got a 10/10 ride and that was the difference. Not a very strong race and probably won’t see too many winning on a Saturday anytime soon.

Race 5:

Who’d have thought it? ARCTIC- the perennial placegetter who gets back and runs on sat outside lead and was too good. He was pretty good too. With the ordinary staying races we have it looks like they have found his niche’.

As mentioned before CATALONIA is screaming for a bigger track and will simply wins when she gets to EF or Sunny Coast. Not prepared to write of EMERALD DUKE, I know Colless has a good opinion of him and he is going to be a nice horse next prep.

Race 6:

I think the first 5 over the line are all nice horses. Very little between MISS HUSSON and OUR ZIDANE and although OUR ZIDANE just got held up for one stride it may have been enough to argue may have won? (arguable, only a nose in it though) AMEXED also went wide on the corner which may have cost ground and gee he is going to be a nice stayer. Take nothing away from MISS HUSSON, a very nice filly!

SANTOYA CAT worked hard and took up the lead. Love the way he stuck around!

Race 7:

A Glen Colless special and BELIEVE’N’RECEIVE gets the cash. As mentioned in the preview I felt if they pushed forward they would win and its great when a plan comes off! CRACCO is getting close to another win but I I find it bloody hard to catch. BINGO ROSE very good again.

Race 8:

LOVE ROCKS- WOW. Very exciting horse who can scorch the turf. MISHANI WARRIOR commited suicide trying to lead it on the outside? Crazy stuff, but the winner looks awesome.

BENNY’S BUTTONS is flying and made late ground.

Race 9:

Every man, his dog, his dogs mate and more were tipping TRAKSTAR and although he ran a good race HI SON was simply superior after arguably a better ride than TRAKSTAR and it could have been the difference. HI SON has been looking for 1600m and can put a few together now. TRAKSTAR will get you your $$ back shortly!

***Many BLACKBOOK runners coming up in an article this week, don’t miss it**
