Weekend Wrap Up

Print Friendly

Well who was ever worried about tipping on the wet track (tongue in cheek). Surprisingly it all worked out and we found half the card including a couple of nice prices including GALLINARI $17 (Friday) and RUDY $6.60

*As expected it was a positive to be racing in the first 4 settling and that was the key to finding a few winners, don’t get me wrong though, it wasn’t playing too bad and held up well. Thank god we were not at Eagle Farm!

Race 1:

Take nothing away from the winners but they were all well ridden to stay close to the fence.  It is impossible to know what type of advantage that was race 1 but I think  FIRST DRAFT and OUT LATE were about as good as the place getters. EXECUTED had to knock up after being in the speed battle, so to only go down late was a nice effort. HIJACK HUSSEY looked gone at the 600m but showed some class to run over them late.

Race 2:

A little bit of a surprise to see BEACH BABE lead here but I thought it was a good ride from Matheson and well worth a try on this track. She always looked like a mare that had to get back but now the team knows she can do it both ends. Although GALLINARI got passed her she was good considering it was a very wet 1200m.

Great ride Cassidy on GALLINARI and it is amazing what a good gate and some luck can do in the racing game. She is a mare that hasn’t had much go her way but it was great to see that change for her owner who is a great bloke and good character.

Race 3:

LE CAP had the Londehero form and as long as he got through the wet he was going to be the one to beat. It was tight at the end but class prevailed.

Wet tracker ROYAL SHOUT was good while LITTLE HONG HORN and COVERT CHAMOUR were commendable.

MORE THAN MONEY has breeding to say he should handle it but that doesn’t seem the case.

The Wrap Up

Race 4:

BRAVE ALI was exactly that, found the front which was always going to be a positive and he bounded away to win by plenty. Loves the mud and will be looking for more wet tracks.

SECRET GARDEN was good hitting the line but that is just her and MARGINS was fair but I am not convinced he is a ‘mudder’ and as mentioned in the preview I think 1600-1800m is his ideal trip and would love to see him kept fresh for those trips at some stage.

Race 5:

Another leader, another winner but you have to admit he kept getting further in front and gave them no chance. KISS ME DEADLY made it two straight and is actually going as good as ever.

HEART OF MANY was solid but when he had to get off the fence and peeled wider it dented his acceleration and may well have been a run short for this heavy track against this grade. SOLOS SAGA did well dropping back in trip and may well be a pretty handy horse down the track.

Race 6:

Well how did RUDY get back out to $6.60? He was very well backed Friday and was getting too short only to drift a little late and pay a good price. He was dominant! Some were wondering if he could win at the 1200m? Well he nearly won over 1000m last prep so 1200m on a heavy track was never an issue, my main query was 1st up on the heavy but he skipped through it.

IN THE SKY ROCKET is screaming to win a Saturday race. Forgive HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER and put it down to the surface.

Race 7:

By the time this race arrived we knew being on pace would help and BENNY’S BUTTONS would get the perfect trip. This was simply a case of class prevailing.

Coolaz

Race 8:

Another leader running them off their legs in JUST A PERLA. Put the writing on the wall the last couple of runs and packed too many punches on a suitable track.

TIMELESS PRINCE, DOGHTY and BUSHY all good and a few behind them may have to be forgiven as they didn’t perform on the ground.
