Weekend Wrap Up

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Blowouts galore!! An extremely tough day at the office betting of Brisbane races. Our only saving grace was best bet KATIE LEE getting the cash in Syd and ‘The Prophet’ having a good day out.

For the first few races it looked as though we were going to be racing on a bias surface like Doomben but you have to admit it evened out and raced really well for a majority of the day. At the end of the day like most racing, if your horse has the ability to sit closer it will be a help more than a hindrance more often than not.

 The Wrap Up

Race 1:

KING KAMADA and STELLA LANTE both went like busted bums, both underwent vet checks with nothing showing up.. They were too bad to be true.

Tegan Harrison is riding in career best form and she rode this one a treat too. SOUTHERLY held off a late charge from DIENEKES.

Not sure what to make of the form here, this about the level for all of them.

Race 2:

The ride on KELVIN THE KRUEL here was exceptional, given every chance, looked as though he’d run right into it but couldn’t finish odd.

LUCKY TOM led, gave a kick and ran away from them to score with ease. GOLDIES IMAGE was an eye catcher late and will have a nice future. ELITIST the short price fav was disappointing at that quote.

Race 3:

MORIARTY simply too good. Not much to write about this. Pretty plain race with the small field.

Race 4:

This looked a trap race with the main chances either out of form or returning. Felt that AVALADYLUCK was the way to go and reckon we were a bit unlucky. She was losing momentum as the winner went wider and got the run we needed. Pretty much Ric McMahon with a good option pulled the wool over Cahill.

SHES CLEAN was just ok late. I feel LITTLE BROWN HORSE is ready to win (maybe at an easier level) and SINGLE STYLE is simply a ‘money muncher’.

Race 5:

ALDINI is back to his old form, maybe better. Really worked him out, seems as though he has to settle well back and relax. Good looking win.

ELMANTOSH was terrific, he attacked the line but ran out of time.

CHOICE BRO and LADY ECHELON were both very solid efforts looking forward and can win soon.

Race 6:

Well I’d been saying in the Wrap Ups that SIR MOMENTS will be a different horse over the road but thought there may have been a few better here. He was outstanding getting the cash. LIBERTYS CHOICE , RYKER, DOTHRAKI and PALMERA LAD were all super efforts.

Two of the best runs were SAFEGUARD (3 wide on speed) and COSTA VIVA (extremely wide the entire) and both were in the finish. Very nice horses.

A cracking race full of good runs and good horses!

Race 7:

ARABIAN GOLD got all the favours and every single chance to run the 2400m out but couldn’t get over the local TINTO who was given a 10/10 from Tim Bell, it was a cracking ride and a really dominant win.

I have no doubt what so ever ROCK DIVA was the best run in the Oaks and should have won. However luck is a part of racing and the outside gate cruelled her!! She would be a chance in the Derby but guessing they probably don’t go down that path?

Well done to TINTO’s connections- Always good to have a local win the feature!

Race 8:

SACRED STAR is a damn good horse who had been spruiked all week and I could not believe he paid $5+. I thought by jump he would be more like a $3 pop and heavily backed.. A good strong win.

BENETTA found her best form to run 3rd, MASTHEAD a great effort nosing her out for 2nd.

BLACK CASH was a huge run and held on for 4th. HOT SNITZEL no luck early in straight and lost momentum under 59kg, not sure what to make of him.

***We move on to QLD’s biggest day of racing nest week and hopefully we get another dry track!
