Weekend Wrap Up

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

**As usual we all got caught up with the Black Caviar hype so the Wrap Up is a touch late!

For those who haven’t heard Black Caviar has torn a couple of muscles and has some bruising (That’s the reports coming through anyway). It’s been reported to be nothing too bad, so we should see her again!

Race 1: Rosie Myers rode SIGNIFIED well and was able to run down TAHITIAN BLACK late. Both runs were good but were probably aided a little by the track.

Race 2: Just the one story out of this- HOWMUCHDOYOULOVEME. He is a massive horse and his future is just as big. He looked a good thing on paper and he was always winning after he sat outside the lead after 200m. Gold Coaster ALDINI has promised a bit before and may be coming good. STRADON is also a handy horse.

Race 3: If you backed DUSTY GOLD its ok, you are allowed to cry.. Forget he went around as he was severely checked and was out of the race from that point. FIRE UP FIFI is very consistent and with a good ride from gun apprentices Matheson it notched up another win. BIANCA JEWEL had every chance and there was a few tips getting around for her.

Race 4: HOSS AMOR proved too good as the short priced fav. CALIENTE and SALUTER were both solid runs also. DISCREET was very unlucky and never got clear. SUNSET AFFAIR got further back than it should have and was on heels for a long way. They are worth forgiving.

Race 5: We got the second of the best bets up here but we shouldn’t have! JETSET LAD missed the start by 3-4 lengths and was beaten a nose. His effort was outstanding. He did fire in a protest but it was dismissed. FIREBOLT was very unlucky last start and he has been knocking on the door. LISTEN SON ran a prep best, but will head to the paddock.

Race 6: GINGA DUDE got back to a bigger track and looked like his old self! He was ridden perfectly by BOWMAN. There were two other really good runs SHAMARDASHING was wide the entire and still fought hard for his 4th in a really tough run. WARRIOR WITHIN ran a great race looking towards a Grafton cup, but I hear they may not head that way?

Race 7: Well if you follow the site you would be sick of me telling you RISK AVERSION was looking for 1400m at Eagle Farm and she finally got into a race under those conditions and ran a brilliant race. There is no doubt she should have won the race, but take nothing away from PEAR TART who puts herself in the firing line and is improving all the time. She is a Group 1 winner now and the best is in front of her. Patinack will be wrapped with her effort!

Race 8: RIVER LAD won this like a group horse? I’m not sure that’s the case, but he exploded in the straight to run over the top of EXCELLANTES who looked to have the race in his keeping! Great run by the winner and I will try to catch up with Nat McCall this week if possible.
