Wrap Up

Hopefully the punters found one of the roughies throughout the day?

‘The Punt’ guide was around it but was a tough day for our best bets etc. The average price of the winners at the Gold Coast was around $16.

The horse I was really warming to late in the morning was COME SAID THE BOY and it lost its rider 100m after the start! As a punter that should have been a sign as to how the day would go.. haha.

At the end of the day it is a bit tough to line up the form from the coast as it is such a unique track. Like other tight tracks Moonee Valley-Warwick Farm you can get a lot of hard luck stories.

I have been meaning to mention the big upgrades to the Gold Coast. The upgrading of the members and other areas has started already and I believe a track upgrade will happen in the near future. That will be a massive boost for QLD racing and I would be all for a track like the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast taking on more metropolitan racing and easing the pain on Doomben and Eagle Farm.

*The big races were at Sydney and IT’S A DUNDEEL was far too good for a pretty good field. The blinkers worked a treat and he ground the very classy PROISIR into the ground. IT’S A DUNDEEL is a chance to dominate these 3 year old features as he should just get better the further they go.

ARINOSA was outstanding in the mares race! There were a couple of hard luck stories we will go into when I put the Blackbookers article out later in the week but all honours to ARINOSA who may well be in for her best preparation. She won the greys race at Flemington over the carnival but has bigger things ahead this time in.

SNITZERLAND broke the track record and stamped herself as even better than I thought she was. It was a dominant display. HAY LIST was good enough on return and will be lengths better next time he hits the track.

*I was very keen on the chances of CHATEAU MARGAUX in Bendigo first up. She was neutral out and drifted back to last which was probably not necessary. The best option would have been to ease out around the 800m and start moving forward to be in a winning position on the corner, but she stuck to the fence and run into bums. The run was outstanding looking forward to bigger things at the end of the prep but you can feel a little hard done by if you had something on her. Would she have won? We will never know but she would have been a lot closer. Don’t jump off her.

*Be sure to check in for a big Blackbookers page early in the week!!
