Wrap up

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We haven’t done a wrap up for a while so let’s see what we can do in summarizing the weekend.

(Haven’t got sectionals yet so can’t help you out there. Blackbook will go up after I get them)

Race 1:

Pretty poor staying race and I’m not taking much out of it to be honest.

Race 2:

Didn’t see MR MARBELLOUZ producing what he did and it was the outstanding performance of the day for mine. He went hard enough in front to give them all a chance but he dropped them in a heart beat and it was race over! On that performance he has a lot to offer and is one i grossly underrated, a devastating win!

The effort of LIVFESAVER to not only tack on after being 3L last but to pick them all up and go past was a brilliant return. Not 100% fit and sweated up horribly in the parade. Will strip a lot fitter next time out and worth following towards the Grafton country championship qualifier.

WHYCATCHIM looked a bit flat at first glance but if the winner wasn’t in the race he’d have had the fence, led easily and may have won the race so not putting a line through him going forward.

Also thought IL RICCIO and SO INVINCIBLE were ok fresh but the story was the winner.

Race 3:

Confident the first three over the line go on to win more races.

The Currie trained MISHANI HUSTLER looked the winner a long way out and he paraded beautifully, a real standout in the yard. He looks to have a future and more ground won’t hurt him.

PLUMARO sprouted wings late but that style of getting back can cause some heartache. Will appreciate 1350m+ IMO.

BACCARAT BABY is a small little thing and may be better next time in if she can fill out and get a bit stronger but still liked the effort and either back to 1100m or a slightly easier race and she should just be winning.

Race 4:

SNITZ was wide in a slow run race but was simply too good, 59kg and all. Goes on a country championships path and bloody hard to beat until the final.

UMBERTO was the unlucky runner (or got a bad ride, one of the two as I haven’t seen head on of the start). He had to hold a spot but got way back in a walking race to cost him any chance. The effort was fantastic to get as close as he did.

Forgiving SHESEESEVERYTHING, read the stewards report for yourself….. Crazy stuff.

Race 5:

Another race I’m not sure on. EPIC RANT did get out to a backable price around $4.50 I believe, got all the favours to win. Can’t knock the effort.

ANOTHER DOLLAR was wide, made more runs than Steve Smith on a flat track and still nearly got the cash. Think he can be winning soon but a bigger track and/or some speed is needed.

TROMMELSCHLAGEN was also good from the back but with a better run than AD.

Seen the boys with BRENDA on track and she did them proud. Might measure up down the track but might be worth just going to easier races and get a picket fence next to her name to build confidence.

Race 6:

All honours to OLD NORTH, he brought a bit of quality and proved far to good with a good steer.

I’M A RIPPER was a bit of a question for me but the run was excellent after being taken on up front, good effort.

SHE’S MISS DEVINE and CAPETOWN HUSSEY good but the winner was clearly the storey.

Race 7:

RICH AFFAIR was a chance here but he must have done something at home because the flood of money was near unbelievable for a horse taking in his form. He improved but nowhere near as much as he had to.

JADENTOM superior here, I know there has been some talk about her leading in but this showed she has real potential and liked the way she put them away very quickly!

Race 8:

Taking nothing out of this race and although I know a couple of good supporters of the site are in GLENDARA unfortunately he has got life with me after Saturday.

Maybe ROSIE POSIE was the one I will follow after being wide and going before acceptances.

Race 9:

Bit of late money for CORNROW and they got the cash! Got a nice run and saluted for those on at the big price. BRIGADOON RISE again every opportunity and again placing.

Not a race I want to be following much out of. MUSTARRID will go to further and will appreciate that and SEA THE SPARKLE would love a wet track.

Race 10:

Good ride J.Byrne steals the race. Took the initiative (which we don’t see much up here) and let rip in what looked a slow run race on paper. Great tactics and the horse might be getting back to best.

PRIORITISE did his thing and OINK not far off a win!
