Wrap Up

Bit of a Wrap up from Saturday:

*One good sign other than finding a few winners is that we have found the right horses with our preview going up Fridays. THE STOREMAN was $4.40 Friday into $2.60 and MISHANI WARRIOR was $12 Friday, into $5 Saturday morning.

**Thankyou for those who let me know they happened to follow the BRISBANE ($1523) + MELBOURNE ($503) Quadrella’s. Nice result.

 The Wrap Up

Race 1:

Shoot me now!! It is open to debate but I am sure we were on the right horse in GAME OF FAME. She is a big striding horse and without knowing instructions, I am sure they would have been get to the outside as early as possible. Byrne unfortunately rode her ‘pretty’ which ended up being ugly! He held her up to inside at the top of the straight when he had to go out and get her rolling. He then got a check, lost all momentum and it’s impossible for a big striding filly like that to pick up. YUCK!

NO PROBLEM has been a very consistent 2 yr old and a win is deserving, well done to connections.

Race 2:

Well rated here and the upset winner was KISS ME DEADLY.

I thought our selection HARBOR SPRINGS was terrific and will win in town.

SPARKLING SOUND was very plain, may be spell time??

Race 3:

Heavily backed and THE STOREMAN smashed them! No great amount of speed as mentioned in the preview and he was classes above. He can hold his form and worth following.

Race 4:

Well I didn’t make SOLO SAGA a strong tip but I did have a few people contact me to say they followed the steer. Good luck t those who got the $14. He is promising and looks a decent staying type. KENTAUR is a frustrating horse and ran up to his best.

Race 5:

When MISHANI GLADIATOR ($13 into $4) jumped and was pushed hard to sit closer to the pace I had to admit I cringed but the plan did turn out to be the go and the horse ran very well. It took a good one in HEZA BOBBY DAZZLER to wear him down late. The grey HBD has always promised plenty and this was some sort of win.

Race 6:

Well Glen Colless has the nickname ‘spike’ but it should be ‘Houdini’! The bloke is a freak. When other jockey’s panic and make mistakes he sits, watches and makes the right call. He waited on BUAKAW, saved about 3-4L, got up on the fence and got the money for the brissyraces followers again.

PITT STREET who was runner up was very good for Kris Lees. CRACCO was as honest as ever for what looked an easy trifecta.

Race 7:

One of the best finishes of the day. LISTEN SON who came right into the race with the drying track was 3 wide and under the stick before the corner but just kept going. The effort was amazing but he went down a nose to another tough old bloke in STEEL ZIP. It was a great fight and DOCTOR DAVID, BYMONASHEE and LADY ECHELON were all with about 1/2L as well.

Really good race. LADY ECHELON will be well placed if she drops back to mares grade and LISTEN SON can win anything if conditions suit (hard, fast track).

Race 8:

Was very keen here on FINAL CRESCENDO, he got into a lovely position but didn’t really fire. Not sure if he didn’t run for Harrison or what the go was but he went from the fence to the widest horse in the straight and put his head to the side and didn’t really let down? On previous form he would have gone past them.

The horse that looked the danger was MORE THAN MONEY and this was also a big effort. The writing was on the wall with recent runs but needed every inch of the 1200m to wear down CLEAVER who skipped away and looked the winner.

Ride Of The Day:   COLLESS  (BUAKAW)

Run Of The Day:   Tough call but went for LISTEN SON
