Wrap Up from Ippy

Well what looked an extremely hard day turned out ok with horses like MISS BRADBURY and CASINO CARD in our top couple and some punters got the $21 and $13 in early markets.

Favorite backers had a decent day with CAPE KIDNAPPERS getting smashed in the market and winning well, while FLYING HOME was a good winner and an improving type in the second race.

The track played really well and I couldn’t believe the talk by very good commentators that the rail was ‘off’ but I think the track was great and just raced the way it usually does. The only reason it was talked about was because very few were brave enough to go there, once the jockey’s ventured there they started winning there.Ippy Some argue they were the staying races?? PELLEGRINI worked hard and stuck to the fence for 2nd and JETSET LAD was one off the fence for 3rd in the Eye Liner.. Does that mean they were  morals beaten? No.

*The Eye Liner was one of the features and there were 4-5 good runs but I can’t remember a race where there were so many horrible runs. They were coming in like Browns Cows 20-30m apart and some pulled up at the 150m… CONSERVATORIUM was far too good for this field and could have even lumped more weight to victory. It was a very good ride by Bowditch and a very deserved win. PELLEGRINI led and fought well while MEET GEORGE flew late to be in the photo for 2nd.

*The Cup was a boil over with ANAGOLD getting the cash. She hugged the fence while everybody got out of her way, very similar to the Stradbroke a week earlier, seems like nobody learnt a lesson?

HIGH KIN was the best run of the race and was eating up the ground late but that is just the Ipswich track and it is part of racing here. Races like the Sunshine Coast Cup and the Grafton Cup may be on her radar and a win would not surprise.

*The Gai Waterhouse Classic was won by the ever improving PERON. I have always thought she was very good but she has shocked me with how far she has gone in a short time. There is no doubt she is a going to be a genuine Group mare and she won with authority yesterday. Hopefully punters took the steer into SKATING ON ICE in trifecta’s as she ran her skin out to finish behind PERON.

***In other news some Queenslanders may have seen Brad Herne pop down to Sydney with OUTSTRIP. He placed the horse to perfection and it simply had no luck. I will catch up with Brad for an interview this week to see what he does with the horse now and get an update on the rest of the stable.

I hope the punters had a win and those who went to the track had a great time!!
