Wrap Up from the coast

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Well the Coast is usually a tough joint to find a winner but plenty of people have let me know they backed a winner. You had to be forgiving of HARADA BAY and his win was exceptional as not a lot went right early, he also got out to $4 which surprised me.

LONDEHERO was devastating and ARCTIC kicked the day off nicely getting over the top of our ‘roughie’ MR HONOUR which was $21 Thursday and jumped $10.Dollar

Steve Hewlett got the job done again and the only real disappointment was those who followed the quaddie finished 2nd and 3rd and those runners were pay well over $4000, and to make it worse it was ARCHITECT who run over us, he is about as consistent as Melbourne weather, give me strength!

Two of the Three BLACKBOOK runners got the cash which is a positive also.

Race 1:

ARCTIC brought in Heartfelt Quest form and finished alongside Harada Bay last start, that horse was going to be our best bet so this bloke simply needed a good ride from Sam Payne which he got and proved too good.

They rode MR HONOUR forward which puzzled me a bit but the plan was good and he ran really well. UNO FIVE is probably nearing a Brissy win.

Race 2:

TRAKSTAR was about even money and the danger was always going to be DAZZLE US who proved well and truly too good! TRAKSTAR never travelled at all around the coast and the effort to run 2nd was pretty bloody good considering. I can’t remember a horse travelling worse that has gone on to run a place.

Race 3:The Wrap Up

Our selection NICKY NOCKY got a decent lead and every chance. The question was the weight and it just took its toll late as she fell into 3rd.

BEACH BABE got way too far back and was no hope of reeling them in, however she finished off well.

URGENT BELLS ran very well but it was good to see MISS STASH get the coin as there is a good story behind it (Steve Hewlett interviewed her trainer Saturday morning)

GALLINARI had a torrid run and to finish 2.7L off them was ok, she may pop up midweek at a nice price soon.

Race 4:

Bit filthy I didn’t put AIMEE on top. I mentioned it gets in the best st the weights and after a dolly of a ride she was far too good. Taylor pushed her out, eased her and got the run of the race.

RUNWAY ANGEL will be better for the run and if they drop back a level she will not be a maiden for long!

Race 5:

LONDEHERO was slow out of the gates but as usual Colless summed it up very quickly and slotted in with just a couple behind. From there he rolled right up behind them and when he went to pull the trigger the gap closed. Punters were all swearing when he got him out and like all good horses he put his head out and won easy in the end.

LE CAP was very game in defeat. Hansen has it going particularly well.

Race 6:

Go you good thing. I got a thrill out of this because sometimes you have to back your judgment. Plenty of people told me HARADA BAY was a bad tip the other week and he was ordinary. That was not the case, they went slow that day and the 3 in that beat him all sat in front of him. He cost me plenty that day but the writing was on the wall he could make up for it and the run here was outstanding. Every time Butler went to improve from the 1100m he got held up but was still good enough to get out and run a sizzling last 400m

LITTLE LONG HORN  looked disappointing.

Race 7:

A really weird race with so many horses way off the fence in the straight and OLLIE VOLLIE pulling their pants down, not bad for an old fellow. Good ride from Bell and a deserved win.

Class alone carried BENNYS BUTTONS to another placing and ROCKET TO GLORY was ok again.

Race 8:

Look, good stuff to ARCHITECT but give me a break. He is impossible to catch.

GUNDY SPIRIT was abysmal, horrible. Was it the coast track as he had flopped here before?

If you flicked through the preview you would have known we were keen on the placegetters ROMANARMA and FEROCITY FAIR, they paid $5.10 and $7.80 the place but unfortunately no cigar for Quaddie players!! Both with measure up on coming Saturdays.

—This was interesting in the stewards report ……  Trainer L. Treloar will be interviewed at a later date regarding the standard of race day plates presented on IN THE SKY ROCKET at today’s meeting

Run Of The Day:    HARADA BAY

Ride Of The Day: Too many to choose from

Horse to forgive:  TRAKSTAR – Thinking he didn’t handle the coast.

-Also worth noting DANESIRI running really well in Sydney to frank the form of MISHANI WARRIOR
