Wrap Up of E-F

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

An interesting day to wrap up from Saturday.

My initial thoughts when the track was upgraded to a Good 2 was that the leaders on tracks like that are always hard to catch and it could lead to some rough results the last 4 races. That was the case but I think the slow pace in a few races made it look worse than it was. I haven’t got the splits in front of me but many races looked slow tempos and that made it hard for backmarkers, especially when the leaders are reeling off quick last 600m on a hard track.Binoculars

Race 1: BUCKMOORE held off SPOT THE ROCK with just a nose between them. SPOT THE ROCK probably cost himself the race by just not settling as well as they would have liked and took a couple of strides to take a gap and when he got out it was too late. MEMEORABLE MOMENT was also very good.

Race 2: The real BRIBIE stood up with a great ride from Goold. Sat back, nursed the big grey and let him sprint for about 200m and run over the top of them easy. That’s the way to ride him and he simply loves dry tracks.

Race 3: There were 6 horses under the $11 mark and not one was able to finish in the placings… Really not sure what to make of this race. The pace seemed to favour the frontrunners so maybe it would pay to be forgiving.

Race 4: These staying races are impossible to follow.

Race 5: Well we have been saying the Murphy stable is flying and I still wasn’t smart enough to follow the lead! WISH UPON A STAR got an easy enough time in front and deserved the win. PLATINUM MINT was solid in 2nd while GOTTA BE LUCKY was again swooping late in a great effort. There was good support for ELLYTHEA and she will win again soon.

Race 6: Well TERONADO was simply a crying shame here! They went steady up front, sprinted home fast and the task set to him was nearly impossible. In saying that he was super late and the effort to get within a nose was incredible. You will get your money back next start. In saying that, PRUSSIAN HEART, CANNYZING and EXCEEDINGLY are all nice horses and take nothing away from their efforts. FASTNET COVE who has had a bit of a wrap on him had cardiac arrhythmia after the race and tailed off.

Race 7: This was run at a good tempo and LISTEN SON is simply a dry tracker! He run them along and as it can be on these hard track, he run time and was too hard to catch. FUNTANTES and STARTSMEUP were very good filling the places while VINTAGE MOSS was trapped three wide as we expected in ‘The Punt’ preview and was extremely game in 4th. Unfortunately LATIN NEWS broke down and had to be euthanased on humane grounds.

Race 8: Another race that played a little to the front 4-5 in running. CHIPP’N AWAY was able to put his nose out on the line to salute. TAIL AND ALL is ready to win and may have just needed the run. PLAYITSTRAIGHT didn’t have much luck and there was only 3L over 12 horses here so formline may not be the strongest.

UNLUCKY RUNNER:  CANNY BALLARD (Syd) should have won.
