I felt before they took the track Saturday that is looked a very weak off-season meeting. Nothing has changed my mind since.
There were two rank outsiders win, Hot Imagine $18 race 4 and Noble Conqueror $41 in the last race. Throw in Epic Proportions as a $26 winner in race 8 and it wasn’t exactly a punters day at Doomben.
Anything to follow from the meeting?
Thought the best of the day was Let’sfacethemusic who we thought could lead all the way and win. After missing the start they were a long way off the lead and had to come the widest on the corner. The effort to finish 4th and within 0.4L of the winner was excellent. With a better gate, can make amends next time out.
We can also be forgiving of Too Many Thoughts in the last race. Just never really clear at the important stage of the straight and should run well 3rd up when we see him next.
