Look back at the Doomben races Saturday.
RACE 1:
Bit dirty on myself here. Really liked the trial of ESPERANZA but i’m not one to back them on debut. It got back, got to the outside and let down better than any of them and paid $15. That’s racing. SUMMER SENSATION was the other run of note. Not much went right and still finished off. Looks an up coming winner off this effort.

Race 2:
The short priced fave DOMINANT DARCY was really well suited after the scratching’s and in typical Gollan fashion, he read the race right, had his two as the leaders and just went as they liked once they found the front. THE STARS was box seat but looks a horse who needs speed on and the small field didn’t help it. Winner was still a good run and fast time.

Race 3:
Qld staying races, horrible. Fair to say PRINCE LEVI is the best horse in this race and he proved it. A very good ride to save ground and sprinted better than them, ARCHERS GAME was brave but the rest are just simply no good. They were going up and down in the one spot. PRINCE LEVI could win again off this as nothing here will turn the tables.

Race 4:
Don’t like this race. Winner was GLASS OF ROSE who is consistent but a non-winner. PIERATA’S GEM is a non winner and TEN DEEP which ran 3rd was a crazy price at odds on.

Race 5:
Out to this trip was a little query for the fave YOYO YEEZY, Thorton tried to cross but ended up sitting a length in front of the horse on the fence who was holding him out. Press the button to lead or don’t…. No point doing what he did here. Ended up costing pennys and ZOUBABY who got a good run off the speed was simply the stronger horse late. Both good efforts and bets runs in the race.

Race 6:
This is about when they all thought “its a fast track we all have to lead”. Heads off and pumpkins on! They had to come out neutral/positive on RAMP IT UP but KWT had the perfect chance to take a sit after they all went crazy early. Instead, he decided he’d show them who is the craziest and drove the horse into the ground and proceeded to take 3-4 horses out in the straight when the horse was capitulating. Hard to take much out of the run as the backmarkers had to win. TOO MANY THOUGHTS was brave on speed and has some wins in store.

Race 7:
READY FOR AIMEE, blinkers first time, just over did it a little bit early. I like the ride though. Thompson just went for home on the corner after using a few pennies finding the lead. He got within probably 25 metres of being a genius, but FABULANTES got him on the line, he settled last, saved all the ground on the inside, got out after him and class prevailed. Both were very good runs.
Might finish other races late.
