Eagle Farm 20/7

Back to the big track and a dry surface. Rail is 6m and I’d expect the track to play well but always keen to see a couple before being too confident.

Looks a decent days racing. Preview will be final after 9am Saturday.

*There will be updates leading into the weekend. I’ve just put this up early to give punters a lead*

RACE 1: * *

MALAHIDE looks well placed after racing in much better company over the winter. Forgiving last start over the longer trip on a very wet track. Placed better but gate is a query.

SIENNA ROSE was good fresh behind a very smart stablemate, this track more suitable and she will be strong late.

LIGULATE well suited this trip and big track off the freshen.

Not a great punting race. NUMBERS: 8-6-9

RACE 2: * * *

Very confident KNIGHT MARINER ends up the best horse from this race. KIM ALICIA beat him home last start, she was good but KNIGHT MARINER meets her 2kg better off and more importantly should improve lengths from the debut experience. The gate isn’t ideal, don’t really want to get to last in a slow run race.

On Top: 3-KNIGHT MARINER

RACE 3: * * *

ATTORNEY entered here and in Syd. He is a progressive type who has been excellent going through the grades since arriving in Aus. Has won over 1600m and 1900m his last two and this is actually closer to his right trip. I’d expect him to take another step and win again if they decide to run here. UPDATE- Hearing that it will run in SYD.

ALLCASH improved sharply 2nd up. No real luck there and will be even better for the run.

NO MONEY NO HONEY was good in the Grafton cup, they just picked the wrong race to run in. Maybe they had this race in mind. Live chance here, the Melb form is pretty good.

OCEAN ADDICT has a lot of upside and is bred to get the trip, she will run well and has more wins in store.

*Have the 7 on top but ALLCASH seems well over the odds and could be the value 1×3.

On Top: 7-NO MONEY NO HONEY

Next Best: 9-ALLCASH, 8-OCEAN ADDICT

RACE 4: * * *

SOUL STAR back to dry ground, decent gate and 2kg claim all look positives. She’s had the 5 starts over this trip and won or placed in 4 of 5. Looks a suitable race and hard to beat.

ARGENT D’OR will be winning races in QLD but the horrible get back pattern does make it hard for him. This track will suit far better than Doomben and expect him to run well.

UNLIKELY STORY is the big query. Trialled through the week and looked good. Afraid of how far back he gets from the gate but does have a bit of a class edge on most of these.

On Top: 10-SOUL STAR $4.20

Hardest To Beat: 5-ARGENT D’OR, 2-UNLIKELY STORY

Great race and keen to watch but not sure I bet.

Big fan of both JAMI LADY and HOLLABACK GIRL. The form of JAMI LADY has been excellent, how she got beaten in a low 3yr old race at the sunny coast early in the prep has me baffled! She has an awkward gate and will need a good ride but any of her recent form measures right up.

HOLLABACK GIRL $5 has obviously had a few issues and lightly raced but her last start win was breathtaking against Chikorita who is handy enough. If they back her I’d follow them.

DESIGNER MAID looks a speed machine and will lead or sit outside lead. This is a step up but have to like what she has done so far and and her recent trials have been easy stuff.

*HOLLABACK GIRL looks the value at $5 but that might change closer to raceday.

Numbers: 1-4-14 in no particular order.

Interesting sort of race.

THE AVENGER trialled last week and looked ready but the gate means Fradd may spot them a big start. Good training to have the let up when they did and well placed this time of year.

Good tactics this track/trip last prep on LOOKS LIKE ELVIS, they pushed forward but the speed was decent and he was run over late (still a good effort). I’d ride the same way here and he will strip fitter for the fresh run on the heavy track.

TOKORIKI LAD has been hard to catch and a little frustrating this prep. Looked his race last start but the track turned into a bog and he found another way to be beaten, he was good late and the run was good.

On Top: 5-LOOKS LIKE ELVIS $4.60

Hardest To Beat: 6-THE AVENGER, 8- TOKORIKI LAD

Do like these long distances races and there is definitely a place for them in the calender.

YOGI is clearly the class horse but he has the weight of a class horse also. Lumping 60kg over the 3200m is never ideal, however he brings genuine group form and the fresh run over 2400m with 59kg was excellent. He had the best last split there too.

Not much between AZURO and DOUHKHAN last start, expect that to be the same again here. Both will run the trip out strong.

Blinkers go on SAUNTER BOY, he’s a real old school stayer who will be strong late and I’ll throw him in exotics.

On Top: 1-YOGI $3.10

Next Best: 5-AZURO, 6-DOUKHAN, 4-SAUNTER BOY

RACE 8: * * * *

SILVERA and MAGNUFIGHTER are the two I want to be around here.

GOLD AMBITION and AWAKE THE STARS are winning hopes but I don’t have any luck tracking their form and looking to the others mentioned.

SILVERA gets the nod here after the very good Rockhampton win. From gate 2 Byrne should almost box seat behind leader and just swing off the big grey as long as possible and can steal a couple of lengths when he lets him go. In good form and rock hard fit now, he’s the one they have to beat.

MAGNUFIGHTER has come back well and they just made a mistake keeping him to the shorter trip last week, his run was still very good. Only been on the 7 day back up once when beaten 4.4L but it was in a Group 1.

*Backing 5 and saving 7.

On Top: 5-SILVERA $3.20

Hardest To Beat: 7-MAGNUFIGHTER $5

Lots of form lining up here but luck will play a fair part.

Feel TREVELYN was the best through the line in the main lead up. ENTERPRISE LOUISE, YAMAZAKI and RED CHASE all good runs there too and little between them but feel TREVELYN is the one looking for this trip. Fradd sticks and if he lands midfield with cover he might be worth something at $6.50.

YAMAZAKI gets a gun run without spending a penny a few pairs back. She’s been very good all prep and expect her to be very hard to beat.

RED CHASE has been flying and ready to win, just a query for me at the trip.

ENTERPRISE LOUISE could blow them away without surprising, just concerned that she may end up last from the gate and that would make it a very big task.

On Top: 7-TREVELYN $6.50 ew

Hardest To Beat: 8-YAMAZAKI, 6-ENTERPRISE LOUISE

GIBBOS BEST:

Not overly keen but feel these might be the best few on the day

Race 7 No.1-YOGI $3.20

Race 8 No.5-SILVERA $3.20

Best e/w

Race 9 No.7- TREVELYAN $6.50

THE PROPHETS’ BEST:

Race 3 No.8- OCEAN ADDICT

Race 8 No.7-MAGNUFIGHTER $5

No real best bets but a set of numbers for racing at the GOLD COAST:

Race 2 No.5 PRINCE DUPORTH but can’t take odds on.

Race 3 No.12 ew QUALIFY $10
