Here are the early weekend selections from my Thursday chat with Steve Hewlett from RadioTab. (For those interested you can usually tune in between 10.30-12 of a Thursday, and on the odd occasion it may be on in the first hour of ‘raceday’ after the trainers interviews etc)
Brisbane Race 4 No.2 LATIN NEWS
*Important to note he has only won 3 of 27 career runs, however his 3 wins have all been 1st up!
*Best jockey in the business Jeff Lloyd in engaged and he gets the gun run in transit 3rd the fence.
*Looks to have a clear class edge here.
Brisbane Race 5 No.11 PURE PURRFECTION
*Enormous effort last start when jumping from a wide gate and spotting leader 10-12 lengths.
*Can sit handy from the good gate and Munce stays on top.
*This looks very suitable at a decent price!
Melbourne Race 5 No.1 GOLDEN ARCHER
*Simply think he is a true group horse taking on mostly Listed horses.
*Won or placed in 10 of his 12 starts and can add to that tally here.
*Gate a slight query, but not the end of the world and won’t be scaring me off.
