Let’s start with the Everest. I was one that was not impressed with the trial of the HK star KA YING RISING. I understand they said he needed it and has sharpened up but it still wasn’t what I wanted to see. In saying that, there isn’t a lot of pressure up front here and this race should shape up to give him every possible chance. He either leads on the fence or if OVERPASS somehow crosses (which I don’t expect) he just sits in the box seat.
If he doesn’t show up, this race is wide open.
I think LADY SHENANDOAH is a jet. She’d love it to be 1400m and that’s the only concern. From the gate she is likely to be midfield with cover and Lane can just save her for the last shot at them. Loves Randwick and don’t sell her short.
ANGEL CAPITAL was breath-taking fresh and then horribly unlucky in the 1400m G1 last start. Great turn of foot and only needs a pinch of luck getting a run when they straighten up.
WAR MACHINE is a winner and impossible to knock. The Autumn/winter campaign was the making of him and retuned with a dominant win down the straight. Gate 4 and they have not reached the ceiling with him yet.
Never really been a JOLIESTAR man but the fresh win was outstanding, has Jmac on top and only has to reproduce that fresh run to be right in the money here.
Can only be impressed with JIMMYSTAR and BRIASA in the lead up. Both look to be peaking at the right time and winning hopes despite the bad gates. The more I look at it, the more I think BRIASA can track OVERPASS across and might actually land 1/1 with some luck.

CAULFIELD CUP
Well the fave here is HALF YOURS and some want to knock the horse. I can’t have been more impressed with what it has done. The Caloundra Cup win in Qld was outstanding and has carried that form on. The Turbull is always the best form race for the features over the carnival and out of that race all I could back in a Caulfield Cup was HALF YOURS or ALIEANA and that mare isn’t running. He’s a ripper and only query is bad luck from a gate he will get bottled up from.
I have liked ABSURDE the last couple of cups and thought the effort last year was very good. The plan to run in this race is a good idea. Gate 1 is a big concern but gee I think he is placed well and is the one who might be the wrong odds.
DEAKIN is an underrated horse and maps a few lengths off the lead which is ideal. Likes good ground and is a genuine stayer. He’s a must in exotics for me. ROYAL SUPREMECY was a good winner in the metrop but admit it’s not usually the best form guide. VAUBAN big weight but going really well.
Market the best guide with PRESAGE NOCTURNE, MEYDAAN and GOLDEN SNAP, respect any moves. MEYDAAN travels well but lacks a turn of foot. Still think he has more class than most of these.
