Gibbo’s Valero Texas Open selections 2026

Still a bit sick about Nicolai not getting it done last week at $38. Two horse race on Sunday and Woodland too good. After his struggles (that he is still going through) It’s hard not to be happy for him and his family, well done Gary!

This week, no Scheffler again and I am focusing hard on those at the top of the market for a change.

(Betfair prices at time of typing)

TOMMY FLEETWOOD $19 – 3x Top 10’s in his last 4 events. Only had the two starts here and was 7th two years ago. One of the great ball strikers in world golf and just seems to be at a new level since last years success. Ranked 1st Shots gained Around The Green and Ranked 5th SG tee to green.

LUDVIG ABERG $19– Man crush time. The best player to watch, he plays so quick, no bullshit, just hit and move on. Started the year plain but T3 and T5 his last two show his class. Finishing round of 76 was horrible to somehow lose The Players but he can brush that off and win here. Great all round game.

BOBBY MacIntyre- $25 (above) He is trending for this. Another of my fav players and he has just improved slightly all year. Reckon he will be peaking over the next month or so. All parts of his game have been excellent except Approach the green. I’m sure that is improving and when that matches everything else, he will be winning tournaments. Would not surprise if it starts here.

SEPP STRAKA $28 – Love this bloke but he is a frustration. Just gets too hard on himself and body language sucks at times. He is a 4x time winner on tour and always starts over the odds. Only had six starts this year and has two top 10’s and two top 20’s. Key is the SG Approach The Green where he is 12th on tour. Only played here three times with mixed results but he’s a better player now.

HEIDEKI MATSUYAMA $34 – 7/7 cuts made and still feel sorry for him losing the Phoenix Open when the crowd were being cockheads. Worst results in seven tournaments have been T41 and T28, a great start to the year. It’s only been the Tee Shots that have been costly so far this year. Ranked 121st off the tee but 17th on Shots Gained total on tour.

Haven’t focused on the top of the market like this all year but they seem to have an edge here in my eyes. Of the ones I have left out, HENLEY is the main danger. SPEITH has played extremely well here but I just have to risk him as he doesn’t win anymore.
