Grafton Cup day

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A bit of luck early Ramornie day with the first trifecta paying $230 but a couple of misses in the other two races.

Here is a Cup day update.

A few Brissyraces punters might have specked the ones at odds as READILY REWARDED and WILLO TITTO have shortened since printing this.

Thursday Race 2:

12-READILY REWARDED $61/$16

3-EDIFICATION

7-BEEF WEEK PRINCESS

11-MONTE DI ROSE

It’s a rubbish race and any one of about 10 horses could win. READILY REWARDED is $61/$16 and not the worst. She is a Tassie mare who has only had the one run back from 6 months off. It was at Lismore and it was an incredibly negative ride. I’m sure they weren’t too interested there. Every chance she may need more racing but at those odds I could have a flea bet incase there is sharp improvement.  EDIFICATION and BEEF WEEK PRINCESS are as consistent as any and I’d expect them to look winning hopes the last 200m also.

*Horrible race

Thursday Race 3:

6-HARD LABOUR $2.40

3-WILLO TITTO $21

1-OAKFIELD MISSILE

2-THINK FREE

Not a lot between these four mentioned. Have always liked HARD LABOUR but not much has gone right this prep. Checked and injured in a good race two back. Last start looked plain but they went really slow and she had the 2nd best L200m of the race so was better than it looked. Has trialled extremely well in blinkers and she wears them here. WILLO TITTO is well over the odds at $21. Costa has turned her right around and she is a good mare. Has a good fresh record and her recent trial was also very good leading into this. OAKFIELD MISSILE and THINK FREE are both good horses and more than capable. Just have to carry the big weights. Right in this.

*I’ll back HARD LABOUR but WILLO TITTO will be a winning result too.

GRAFTON CUP

10-PURRFECT DEAL $4

7-PARRY SOUND $7

6-BERDIBEK $4.20

9-PRIMITIVO $21

11-WINDERMERE $21

Easy to make cases for a lot of them. I’ve just been a fan of this mare for a long time and this has been their plan for while too. I much rather back horses peaking for target races than those holding together after their main targets. Some of the things this mare has done on her way through the grades have been brilliant and I’m banking on her running a career best here. She missed work after the EF flop and then come to Grafton for the prelude (race was weak as piss) but she carried 62kg and won with her head on her chest. She will improve lengths off that and in my mind she is the one they all have to beat.

BERDIBEK hasn’t run the 2400m often but all signs are that it looks ideal. The stable won the Ramornie Wednesday and look to have placed this horse perfectly also.

PARRY SOUND finds it very hard to win these days but continues to run well at Listed grade. On his recent efforts he deserves to be hard in the market against this lot.

PRIMITIVO will strip fitter for the two runs back. Gets to a suitable trip and the blinkers go back on. He’s hard to catch, I just expect him to improve here. WINDEMERE isn’t a horse I usually follow but she had form around PURRFECT DEAL last prep and I like the horse that beat her last start (Zaaydani).
