Have to admit I like restricted races. Always a few stand out and with the big field there looks to be a couple at backable odds for me.
I’ve landed with two, PROFITABELLE $12 and JACARANDA $7.50.
Bit of timing about PROFITABELLE. She trialled well and then was solid on debut at the start of Jan. Got a long way back from the gate and slow tempo made it near impossible. Best Last 400m of that race and very good debut. Had a few weeks off and the recent trial was simply outstanding. Looks to have come on greatly from that run and draws gate 1 to sit a lot closer in the run. If she gets the splits, she can win here.
JACARANDA is well bred and with the Hayes camp. Scratched from a winnable race in Melbourne to come here. Only won a low race with three horses in it on debut but I loved the last 100m and through the line. Did a few things wrong and feel she may well improve out of sight this time out. May need this one as well but from gate 6 should land just off the lead and get every chance. Could be a good one in the making.
No doubt the Qld horse STAR OF JAMAICA has ability and the gate makes him a winning chance. PLAGIARISM and FIREBALL might be next best.
Backing #18 PROFITABELLE and making #14 JACARANDA a decent result also.
