Murwillumbah bounces back!

I had the pleasure of catching up with a director from the Tweed River Jockey Club (Murwillumbah this week). There are a few new faces on the board down there and it is now progressing in a very positive way. Many of you would have seen the photo I posted of the track being under a metre of water last week. The reports were that the track had come back very well so I got them to send through an update on the progress leading into a meeting later in the month.

“Murwillumbah has recovered fantastic. The club has spent a lot of time over the last twelve months improving its drainage system and course proper. The results of this hard work are obvious in its recovery from the floods from last week. We all seen the photos from as late as Tuesday this week. On Friday the course proper was mowed. The sand track was used for fast work. This morning the “b” grass was fully mowed and the bull ring reconditioned. Racing NSW representatives flew in on Friday and confirmed the track was in excellent condition considering the rain we had seen. It is hard to believe we were under water on Tuesday and as late as Wednesday in a large percentage of the track. The recovery has been phenomenal. Congratulations to ground staff and a big thank you to the board and local trainers for their assistance. If it was the 25th February this week we would be on a good track. See you all on the 25th February and thank you for your continued support.”

*Great to hear and luck to the team down there!
