FIRST FILLIES BONUS GOES OFF
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FILLIES BONUS WINNERS
The Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland Association is excited to announce the first two winners of the Queensland Fillies Sales Bonus Incentive.
Miss Husson (pictured, Dan Costello Racing) took out the $85,000 A Bensley QTIS 3yo Hcp (2020m) at Doomben on Saturday collecting $56,500 thanks to the QTIS bonus, as well as the newly introduced $5,000 Queensland Fillies Sales Bonus Incentive (QFSBI).
Miss Husson, is a lighlty raced a 3yo breedback by Husson out of Virgin Snow, who has really begun to hit her straps of late. Her prizemoney is edging towards the $100,000 mark with three wins from eight starts and she is nominated for the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas.
Owner trainer Bruce Hill is thrilled with the $5,000 credit that the filly has collected.
“Most of my horses come from the March QTIS sale so this is just fantastic for me,” stated an elated Hill.
“QTIS is a great scheme, we definitely need it and this Fillies Bonus Incentive will just be another big help for the industry here.”
Hill is looking forward to selecting a nice Queensland filly to add to his stable.
“I’ve had a quite a bit of luck with Queensland bred fillies, I find them competitive and they win races so this is a nice little Christmas bonus,” he laughed.
Scott Darby, the majority owner of Celestial Dragon was equally thrilled with the $5,000 credit.
Celestial Dragon made it back to back wins when he took out the $85,000 QTIS Racing Retro 2yo Hcp (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday.
“I will definitely take up that prize,” said Scott.
“It’s a sensational bonus for me as I have more success with fillies than colts and I think the QTIS sale is fantastic.
“QTIS is a great scheme, I’m always very active at the March sale and I think this Fillies Bonus is just another great initiative that will add to its appeal.”
Celestial Dragon, by Hidden Dragon, has now collected over $113,000 in prizemoney and is undefeated after two starts. He should next line up in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic.
But there are plenty of chances to win a Fillies Bonus before the big Magic Millions Carnival, with eleven Fillies Sales Bonus Incentive races scheduled between now and January 10.
TRIPLE CELEBRATION FOR QUEENSLAND STUDS
A $10,000 purchase from the 2013 March QTIS Sale, Celestial Dragon made it back to back wins when he took out the $85,000 QTIS Racing Retro 2yo Hcp (1110m)
The Hidden Dragon colt has now collected over $110,000 in prizemoney from just two starts.
His good win follows further success by Hidden Dragon in Malaysia, when his 6yo gelding, Befledged, won the Selangor TC Class 5 over 1400m just last week.
And it was three times a charm for Lyndhurst Stud when their other boom sire, Sequalo had a winner in the Sky Racing TV Hcp over 1110m.
Seeking More (pictured Dan Costello Racing) led all the way and kept his unbeaten second-up record in tact, now making it three from three.
Like Celestial Dragon, it was a double celebration for the owners of Miss Husson, who took out the $85,000 A Bensley QTIS 3yo Hcp (2020m) collecting $56,500 thanks to the QTIS bonus, as well as the newly introduced $5,000 Queensland Fillies Sales Bonus Incentive (QFSBI).
And Clear Mountain Fairview Stud is celebrating after their top stallion Tycoon Ruler recorded a win with Jopa in the Sky Racing World OMW over 1350m.
Jopa settled just off the speed and made his run from the 400m to win by 3/4 of a length, giving the 6yo gelding his fifth win from 34 starts with prizemoney over $140,000.
Tycoon Ruler is Queensland’s ‘quiet achiever’ with unbelievable statistics of 95 starters for 62 winners, including one Stakes winner and 13 placegetters.
QTIS WINNERS FLYING
Celestial Dragon (pictured, Dan Costello Racing) and Miss Husson were the big winners thanks to QTIS this week, each taking home $56,500 thanks to the lucrative QTIS bonus of $24,500 on the Saturday program at Doomben.

The earnings were more than doubled for all three placegetters at Dalby, Rockhampton, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast and Esk.
It was a double celebration for Stan Johnston at Rockhampton on Thursday when he quinelled the QTIS 2yo Maiden Hcp with Craiglea Platinum and Craiglea Brooke collecting $19,300 between them, thanks to the generous QTIS bonus, as opposed to just $8,500 if the horses weren’t QTIS eligible.
