A bit of news as we warm up to the carnival:

*The Doomben cup is warming up to be a cracking race with STREAMA the talk of the town after a great win Saturday. She will however have a few big hurdles to overcome with MR O’CEIRIN to take improvement from the run and the other three eye-catchers MORIARTY, PRECEDENCE and JUNOOB all more than capable of turning the tables. Add to that AKZAR who is airborne at present for the white hot Weir stable and it’s going to be some type of race! There are even whispers of LEEBAZ considering a start.

*AIMEE who was also impressive Saturday in a tight finish looks to be heading to Sires next and then the Atkins.

*LONDEHERO who was scratched on the weekend has two options- either run in Sydney on Saturday or may well run in the 1100m – 3year old race at Doomben. Nothing settled yet.

*BUFFERING is the early fav around $2.80 for this week’s BTC cup, ahead of the improving and classy SIDESTEP. The race doesn’t finish there and I am very surprised around $8 is being bet about SPIRIT OF BOOM, he has always been behind BUFFERING over their careers but the gap has never been closer than right now. Obviously the all-important weather conditions will play a part with BUFFERING handling all tracks and SPIRIT would much prefer a hard, fast surface.

*While we are on the subject of the Booms, congratulations to Tony and Jane Gollan who married on the weekend!

*HOT SNITZEL will run for Gerald Ryan and SNITZERLAND most likely, hoping for a dry track.

**Let’s finish off with a couple of pictures I was sent from Robert Thompson’s big day out at Newcastle riding his 4000th winner, what a legend!!
