Saturday features thoughts

Things can change from here until Saturday So I don’t want to lock in a set of feature previews. More than happy to give some thoughts and horses that interest me in them though.

Full previews at RACING.COM of a Saturday obviously.

Q22:

HUETOR is the obvious. He won the lead up, he’s in one of the lands best stables and he’s on the improve. Hard to say he will peak here, but if he brings the same form as the Doomben Cup win he is the horse they all have to beat. Even though it’s a step up to WFA for HOPEFUL, gee I think he’s an exciting type. Got to 2000m 2nd up in Sydney and ran the 8th best L200m of the entire meeting. It is one that looks to improve sharply again and a win wouldn’t surprise.

GREAT HOUSE and THE CHOSEN ONE were both pass marks in the lead up and all of them can be around the placing’s. NUMERIAN brings a different formline and keen to see what the market does with her.

Thought SHARP ‘N’ SMART was maybe a touch better than POLITICAL DEBATE last week, but very little between them. Both got good runs there and both look to get decent runs again. A mile is no issue and pretty sure I will end up with SHARP ‘N’ SMART on top when the preview comes out. BRISNAN brings a different formline and is one who should run the mile out strong. SHEEZA BELTER was a very good looking winner of the G2 Sires and was the best L400m and 200m of that race. Pike stays on and she will take some beating.

STRADDY:

After the barrier draw I have the three i like most down to

ELEVEN ELEVEN – ISOTOPE – VILANA

They all map beautifully without spending a penny and should get every chance.

Hard race for me to get involved in but I’ll keep it simple and just play those three in a Quinella. Feel they can land 5-6-7-8th somewhere off the good speed and not spend a penny getting there. Then it’s just a matter of getting runs at the right time. If it’s run at the tempo I expect, they should be able to get those runs after straightening and get to the right part of the track.

Talking to Tony last night he is very happy with where he has ISOTOPE> May have been just a touch behind in her prep because of wet weather but has turned the corner in the last week. Also a little issue where a saddle might have been pinching her. If she brings her best the 52.5kg is a great weight.

VILANA might simply not be up to these but he brings a different formline to the blanket finishes and I like the way he went about it last start. ELEVEN ELEVEN has built beautifully into this prep and ready to peak. He was the best run in the lead up and the one they have to beat.
