Look i’m not one to go looking for things to sook about or negatives to talk about but just seen a few things recently that have me confused with some stewards decisions.
Firstly the stewards have said they will be chasing up Ben Currie in regards to the improved performance of With A Promise, so they should, good call, that’s what they are there for. (Bushy and trainer Duncan also questioned) But they don’t ask any questions about River Racer and her improved performance? The fact that she was a class one horse (yes had raced well in good races without winning) but sits 3 wide the entire and working around a wet Doomben and still runs away from a horse who has won 6 from 7 and she ran quicker time than the feature Listed race after sitting wide the entire? Not worth a question? She looked liked Black Caviar and the win was nearly unbelievable??
Matthew McGillivray was given a month on a handling charge for his ride on Mr Epic when 4-5 wide as he was trying to find the front on a mad leaders track the other week. This week Pengelly was 5 wide the entire on Voulait yet all that was in the report was ‘raced wide throughout.’ Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Pengelly deserved anything, but you can’t crucify one bloke and pick and choose who gets burned and who doesn’t when they ride similar races, a month is a big penalty!
On Wednesday and Thursday there was a betting duel between Amanaat and Mr Sneaky. Yet Mr Sneaky got to $7.20 on betfair and went like a busted bum. ‘Laid in under pressure in the home straight.’ That’s all? Reckon a majority of punters would have liked a simple question to connections at the very least?
*Again, overall I think they do a good job, I’m just not sure what the go has been lately with some questions being asked of some and not of others.
