Been a good few weeks with steady winners, Randwick Quad on weekend. Could have been topped off with Bobby Mac winning the golf around 30/1 but somehow finished 2nd after holding a four shot lead!. Looking to keep the momentum and I have gone a different path with selections this week at The Masters:
THE MASTERS 2026
The best golf tournament of the year (for myself and many others).
The course is just amazing and you have to be able to take the ball both ways. Execution has to be good or you can make a double very easily on some of these holes. keeping doubles off the card is a must!
This is a tournament where I have always backed guys with experience around the joint more so than current form. Going a little the other way this year, but still like guys who have done well here before. Of course you can get someone to just have a good year but most winners here are CLUTCH players under pressure and overall classed as ‘winners’.
What do we do with SCHEFFLER? He is the best player and his last four years here have looked like this 1st – 10th – 1st – 4th. He has missed the top 20 his last two tournaments and withdrew from his last event. He is still clearly the one to beat but at the prices he’s one I just have to risk to be able to back a couple of others.
Same story for RORY McILROY for me. Pure class, last years winner and his very best is still the best in the world. WD and 46th his last two events just don’t tempt me at $15.
Genuinely feel the AUSSIES can play well and even win it.
(Prices Betfair at time of typing and have tried to put them in a rough order)
BETS:
LUDVIG ABERG $17 – Man crush time. The best bloke to watch play golf, bar none! He’s quick, he’s good and he is fun to watch him shape shots all over the joint. Only two starts here and they have been 2nd and 7th. Started the year plain but his last three finishes have been T3, T3, T5. He is ranked 10th in Strokes Gained Total, 23rd SG Off The Tee and 6th SG Approach +200 yards. His poor Sunday efforts are a little worry lately. Arguably the most potential in world golf.
ROBERT McINTYRE $36 – One of my faves and I’ve been onboard for all his wins, so not jumping ship. As mentioned going into last weeks tournament I said he is trending and the month ahead should hold a win. Sits 9th SG Off the tee for the year and 4th SG Putting. Another without a lot of tournaments here but just in great form and it’s all coming together at the right time.
CAM YOUNG $26 – For a guy that was getting known as a non-winner he has turned it all around. Has 2x Top 10’s here in four starts and I feel his game has never been better. Won at the end of last year and comes here off a last start win also. All round game has been great, no weakness anymore and caddie seems to suit. His issue has always been his head and I think he has overcome that now and may well be on his way to the top of the game.
AKSHAY BHATIA (Has come into $85)- Was known as a bit wayward at times but has just kept improving. Biggest changes have probably been the new caddie and some self-belief. He is in career best form this year. After missing the cut in the first two tournaments he has gone T3, T6, T16, 1st, T13, MC. He is 6th Shot Gained total on tour this year and 8th SG Approach to green. Lefty’s have a decent record around here and $85 for a guy in this form seems it’s worth a penny on.
NICOLAI HOJGAARD $100 – One of the young guns who is yet to win on the tour but he is a freak. 9th Shots Gained total on tour, 13th SG Approach the green, 23rd SG Putting and 13th Scrambling. It’s a matter of time for this fella and I think he is starting to believe it as well.
MIN WOO LEE $50 – I have always had a concern with Min Woo making a poor decision when the pressure is on. Just feel the caddie has helped over the last 12 months and I feel that he is starting to mature. 14th, MC, 22nd and 49th are his four attempts here. Not great but another I feel is tracking and has the game to win.
OTHERS OVER $100:
JACOB BRIDGEMAN $110 – He is 2nd in Shots Gained total for the tour this year. Maybe the form player and the only query is first time to the Masters. Best putter in the world at the moment and just seems a big price for a bloke going this well. His issue is Around the greens where he is ranked 114th.
JASON DAY $140 – Results may not seem it but I think he still has some incredible golf in him. Still 25th SG Putting this year and 13th SG Around the green. His issue has actually been Approach shots. If he can improve that area he can surprise a few.
ADAM SCOTT $130 – The Aussie winner here so you know the course can suit. He is the opposite to DAY, he is 4th SG Approach on tour this year but his SG Putting is 84th. Like most weeks, it all comes down to his putting.
SAVERS:
Haven’t got stats on these two as they are on LIV TOUR, but they are dominating there.
JON RAHM $14 – Another who has been in great form and dominating LIV with Bryson. Has 5x Top 10 finishes and a win here. Sure to be right there but at $14 I can only have a saver.
BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU $14 – He has seemed to work it out the las couple of years finishing 6th and 5th. Before that his record here was poor. He has won the last two LIV tournaments and can’t be in any better form. He is a saver for me at the price, no value at $14 for me.
Feel free to send to any golfers or punters who may be interested ya legends, and good luck!
